BiographyLinda Archibald1105 Caminito Alegre<strong>Santa</strong> <strong>Fe</strong>, New Mexico 87505linda.archibald@sfcc.edularchibald@sfps.eduLinda Archibald is an adjunct faculty member of the Teacher Education Department ofthe <strong>Santa</strong> <strong>Fe</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> in the Alternative Licensure Program. She has beenwith the department since it began in 2000. For the Teacher Academy, she currentlyteaches EDUC 205 Fundamentals of Reading Instruction and EDUC 206E TeachingReading for the Elementary Classroom. She has also taught EDUC 206S TeachingReading in the Content Area, EDUC 201B The Critically Reflective Teacher, and EDUC204 Effective Teaching. Linda teaches classes both on campus and on line.Linda has been teaching in the public schools for twenty-one years, teachingkindergarten, first, second, and third grades, as well as supporting students as a ReadingRecovery teacher. She is also a trained Literacy Coach with Comprehensive EarlyLiteracy Learning (CELL), and currently works as a Literacy and Instructional Coach atRamirez Thomas Elementary School. She provides ongoing staff development oncampus as well as observing teachers and providing feedback.<strong>Santa</strong> <strong>Fe</strong> Public Schools has contracted with Linda since 1996 to provide professionaldevelopment in literacy to district teachers. In order to continue her own learning Linda,attends and presents regularly at literacy related conferences, such as The NationalReading Recovery Conference, CELL West Coast Literacy Conference, and TheInternational Reading Association Conference.Linda loves all her jobs and believes that she has the best of all worlds teaching andlearning from children, practicing teachers, and pre-service teachers. She believes thatwhen we teach people to be literate we teach them to think. Being literate gives peoplethe ability to evaluate options and make choices in their lives. She passionately believesthat everyone can learn. Linda has lived in <strong>Santa</strong> <strong>Fe</strong> since 1980 when she graduated fromthe University of California at <strong>Santa</strong> Cruz. She earned a Masters in Education from theUniversity of New Mexico in 1997. When not doing school work, Linda spends time withher husband, children and her large extended family.
