42 <strong>System</strong> Screen Chapter 2Test printTouch this button to transmit the string “SRS OPTIMELT” to the printer. The text shouldbe automatically printed out if the printer driver is properly selected, the cables areproperly connected and the printer is turned on and on-line.TipUse this button to test the integrity of your printer interface and to make sure the properprinter driver, cable connection and settings are being used.Flow ControlSelect the RS-232 (printer) interface flow control mode.The three options are: None, Xon/Xoff and Hardware.None is standard for most printers. Check the printer’s manual for the type of flowcontrol required.Word LengthSelect the RS-232 (printer) interface word length.The two available word lengths are 7 bits and 8 bits (default).8 bits is factory standard for most printers.Printer QDisplay the RS-232 (printer) transmit queue. <strong>OptiMelt</strong> buffers the most recent characterstransmitted over the printer’s RS-232 interface. The queue display shows the interfacehistory.The display includes the most recent characters which have been placed in the printeroutput buffer. Characters which have already been sent out to the printer are shown innormal text. Characters which are waiting to be sent are shown with a gray background.LineFeedSelect the number of extra linefeeds required by the printer to properly space lines of text.The options are: 1 extra or 0 extra.The Generic printer driver defaults to 1 extra LineFeed to assure adequate spacing andwrapping of text lines in all cases. Reduce the setting to 0 extra LineFeed if extra spacingis added between text lines in the Report.
