Chapter 2 Melt Screen 25Touch the Temperature display to select from one of three different display options: BigNumbers, Trend Graph and State Icon.Big NumbersThis is the display recommended for routine determinations and when visibility of theoven temperature is important. The large temperature numbers are easy to read fromacross the room.Trend GraphA plot of temperature vs. time is displayed to the left of the temperature readings andprovides the recent temperature history and future trend of the heating block. This displayis very convenient to track the stability of the oven temperature during measurements.State IconA small graphical representation of the heating profile is displayed to the left of thetemperature readings and provides feedback as to which stage of the melting pointdetermination cycle is currently underway.Instructions AreaThis area of the Melt screen displays up-to-date information and instructions during amelting point determination.<strong>OptiMelt</strong> guides you through the analysis process. Interactive help and timely suggestionsare also available for all important actions, functions and parameters of the instrument.Sample Buttons (Left, Center and Right)The sample buttons are only displayed during ramping and can be pressed at any time toflag important temperature values during a melting point determination.Figure 16. Sample buttons while ramping.Every pressing of the sample button is acknowledged by a distinctive beep and confirmedby displaying the flagged temperature within the button area.There is a dedicated sample button for each of the three capillary sample holders.
