Certain populations, such as children, the elderly,and people living at or below the poverty level, are more likely to be affectedby climate change than others. The table provided for each region lists thepopulation younger than five years old, the population older than 65 yearsold, and the population at or below the poverty level. Local jurisdictionsshould complement these data with locally-specific information, such asdemographic data (poverty, percent elderly, percent children) that areavailable on a county basis. Local jurisdictions will need to evaluate thesedata on a scale appropriate to the jurisdiction.• Adaptation Considerations. The discussion of each region concludeswith a summary of issues to consider in developing climate changeadaptation policy for jurisdictions within the region.
