Chapter 14: Generating Reports of Network ActivityUsing the advanced features of Historical Reports, you candefine a precise time period for a report, consolidate reportsections to show activity across a group of Fireboxes, andset properties to display the report data according to yourpreferences.Creating and Editing ReportsTo start Historical Reports, from Firebox SystemManager, click the Historical Reports icon (shownat right). You can also start Historical Reports fromthe installation directory. The file name is WGReports.exe.Starting a new reportFrom Historical Reports:1 Click Add.The Report Properties dialog box appears.236 WatchGuard Firebox System
Creating and Editing Reports2 Enter the report name.The report name will appear in Historical Reports, theWatchGuard Security Event Processor, and the title of theoutput.3 Use the Log Directory text box to define the location oflog files.The default location for log files is the \logs subdirectory of theWatchGuard installation directory.4 Use the Output Directory text box to define thelocation of the output files.The default location for output files is the \reports subdirectory ofthe WatchGuard installation directory.5 Select the output type: HTML Report, WebTrendsExport, or Text Export.For more information on output types, see “Exporting Reports”on page 241.6 Select the filter.For more information on filters, see “Using Report Filters” onpage 243.7 If you selected the HTML output type and you want tosee the main page of the report upon completion, selectthe checkbox marked Execute Browser UponCompletion.8 Click the Firebox tab.9 Enter the Firebox IP address or a unique name. ClickAdd.When typing IP addresses, type the digits and periods insequence. Do not use the TAB or arrow key to jump past theperiods. For more information on entering IP addresses, see“Entering IP addresses” on page 43.10 Specify report preferences as explained in theremaining sections in this chapter.11 When you are done defining report properties, clickOK.The name of the report appears in the Reports list.User Guide 237
