During 2009-10,the road works carried out by theCity included resurfacing, trafficmanagement, car parks, streetlighting and drainage. More than$2.27 million was spent on roadworks and a further $1.87 millionwas invested in operationalmaintenance, including streetlighting, street sweeping, busshelters, graffiti cleaning, signs,roads, drains, paths and kerbing.Road improvementsThe City carried out a total of12 kilometres of resurfacing workduring 2009-10 providing forthe resurfacing of many streetsincluding;• Stanbury Crescent, Morley;• Bransby Street, Morley;• Stone Street, Maylands;• Emberson Road, Morley;• Toowong Street, Bayswater;• Roberts Street, Bayswater;• Westlake Road, Morley;• Crimea Street, Morley; and• Collier Road, Bayswater.Traffic managementThe continuing trend of increasedtraffic means a greater emphasiswas placed on traffic management.The major traffic managementproject undertaken during 2009‐10was in Bath Road, Morley andinvolved the installation of trafficislands and slow points betweenMorley Drive and Walter Road, West.PathworksDuring 2009-10, a total of $290,000was allocated to the replacementof paving slab footpaths and afurther $70,000 was spent on theconstruction of new pathways. Slabpath upgrades included;• Traylen Road, Bayswater;• Charnwood Street, Morley;• Deeley Street, Maylands;• Drake Street, Bayswater; and• Georgina Street, Bayswater.The continuation of the slab pathreplacement program will ensurethat all remaining slab paths willbe replaced within the next twoyears bringing a 12 year programto completion.Rvierside Gardenscity of bayswater annual report 2009-1015
