San Jac<strong>in</strong>to, but gaveup <strong>13</strong> runs <strong>in</strong> the first three<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>gs and lost their thirdstraight - 17-5 aga<strong>in</strong>st Mt. SanJac<strong>in</strong>to.S<strong>in</strong>ce MSJ's head baseballcoach Steve Alonzo had two ofhis children, son Brant and daughter Stephanie were both be<strong>in</strong>g deployed overseas for theUS Army, it was decided that <strong>Marauder</strong> <strong>Athletics</strong> should honor not only Alonzo and hisfamily, but all the veterans of the <strong>Antelope</strong> <strong>Valley</strong> and San Jac<strong>in</strong>to communities, henceit was decided to have the event dur<strong>in</strong>g Mt. San Jac<strong>in</strong>to's only game <strong>in</strong> Lancaster thisseason.<strong>Marauder</strong> Tennis ended the regular season with a 5-4 w<strong>in</strong> over Mt. San Jac<strong>in</strong>to. The w<strong>in</strong>leaves them at 6-8 overall and 6-2 and second <strong>in</strong> the Foothill Conference.<strong>Marauder</strong> Fastpitch/Softball gets a 10-2 w<strong>in</strong> over Mt. San Jac<strong>in</strong>to - head coach C<strong>in</strong>dyVargas' 300 w<strong>in</strong>.The only runs of the f<strong>in</strong>al Foothill Conference game possibly ever for <strong>Marauder</strong>Fastpitch/Softball came on solo home runs.Haley Schulman's put AVC up <strong>in</strong> the second, but then Schulman gave up two homers toDesert <strong>in</strong> the fourth and the Roadrunners cl<strong>in</strong>ched the conference's top spot 2-1.Had the <strong>Marauder</strong>s found a way to w<strong>in</strong> the game, they would have been co-champs withDesert and Chaffey, but <strong>in</strong>stead end up <strong>in</strong> third.The <strong>Marauder</strong>s dom<strong>in</strong>ated the Foothill Conference almost from the beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g of theconference, w<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g 15 titles (eight undefeated) <strong>in</strong> 24 years, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g seven straight andat one po<strong>in</strong>t went five years without los<strong>in</strong>g a conference game, and will now head <strong>in</strong>to theWestern State Conference for 2014.<strong>Marauder</strong> Tennis at the Foothill Conference championships, qualified six players toadvance to the Southern California regionals. Melissa Coyoy and Maggie Coleman-Levy will go as s<strong>in</strong>gles players and both will also team <strong>in</strong> doubles as all three <strong>Marauder</strong>doubles teams advanced. The doubles teams <strong>in</strong>clude Coyoy/Alyssa Gonzales, Coleman-Levy/Crystal Aki and Rebecca Burusso/Tyzia Norman.Sat., Apr. 20Tue., Apr. 23<strong>Marauder</strong> Baseball's Andrew Rabiej threw seven <strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>gs, giv<strong>in</strong>g up just two hits and the<strong>Marauder</strong>s picked up their first shutout s<strong>in</strong>ce Feb. 4, <strong>2012</strong>, beat<strong>in</strong>g Cerro Coso 7-0.Dylan Lohman and Michael Scodellaro were both two for four with two RBI for the<strong>Marauder</strong>s who collected 15 hits on the day.<strong>Marauder</strong> Baseball loses to Rio Hondo 7-1. One bright spot for the <strong>Marauder</strong>s was thatCory DeRush's triple, one of just three AVC hits <strong>in</strong> the game, put him fifth <strong>in</strong> <strong>Marauder</strong>career triples with n<strong>in</strong>e.
