GLOVER-ARCHBOLD PARK SEWER REHABILITATION PROJECT(FROM VAN NESS STREET NW TO THE POTOMAC RIVER)OVERVIEWAs part of DC Water and Sewer Authority’s (DC Water) Capital Improvement Program, DC water willperform various sewer rehabilitation projects throughout the city. One of these projects involves thesewers in the Glover-Archbold Park from Van Ness Street NW to the Potomac River South of CanalRoad NW. Benefits of this project include the rehabilitation of an aging sewer system, improvingstructural integrity while maintaining adequate hydraulic capacity, reducing stream and groundwaterinfiltration and potential sewer overflows.In preparation for this project, field investigations and evaluations are being conducted to assess thecondition of the sewers.SCOPE OF WORK• Rehabilitation of approximately 22,800 linear feet of affected sewer pipe within the project area.• Rehabilitation and/or replacement of manholes and other sewer infrastructure.IMPORTANT INFORMATIONThe Glover-Archbold Park is a property of National Park Service (NPS). NPS is currently in the processof defining the correct NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) Compliance Pathway, and determiningwhether DC Water will be required to develop an Environmental Assessment (EA) or EnvironmentalImpact Statement (EIS) document. DC Water is in the process of exploring concepts forsewer rehabilitation that will be defined, evaluated and detailed as Alternatives in the upcoming EA orEIS. Once drafted, the draft EA or EIS will be made available for a 60 day Public Comment Period. Theschedule for this Public Comment Period has not been determined, but will be provided in futurecorrespondence.The development of the project scope and design will take into account public comments received byNPS and DC Water during the Public Scoping Period that ended October 31, 2013.
