Ruth Burgett, long-time teacher at Nerinx and the mother of
Mary ‘68, Maggie ‘72 and Cathy ‘76, died on July 31, 2009
in California. Mrs. Burgett began teaching music at Nerinx in
1964 and started the Aesthetic Education program in the 1980s.
She will also be remembered fondly for her work with the black
student organization, especially their efforts to raise money for
scholarships. Mrs. Burgett’s family plans a memorial in St. Louis,
and we will let the alumnae community know when it
is scheduled.

ANNUAL ALUMNAE APPEAL
Yes, it’s that time again. You will receive a request asking for
your financial support in October. Please don’t put it to the
bottom of the pile. With your help, $100,000.00 was raised last
year to help students continue their education at Nerinx Hall. Job
losses, health issues and other devastating circumstances had a
tremendous impact on the Nerinx Hall budget last year. This year
there is an even greater need. Through your financial support, we
can control the tuition increases to help make Nerinx Hall more
affordable to families and make more funds available for
financial aid.

Ins and Outs of Downloading Photos on Home Computers. This
workshop will be presented by Linda Howard, our technology
specialist at Nerinx Hall. Linda will share tips on using photo
software to enhance your photos and show you how to simplify
the process of saving those great digital photos to your computer.
Coffee and Danish served at 9:30 A.M. and the program begins at
10:00 A.M. in the Library. There is no cost for this program, but

What a night! More than 200 Alumnae attended the 2009 Reunion Reception held on August 1. Classmates from 2004,
1999, 1989, 1984, 1974, and 1964 kicked off their reunions at Nerinx Hall with refreshments and tours of the new school.

Class of 1964
Barb Philpot Georges traveled to Rome, Italy with the
Archdiocesan Choir and sang at six different venues
including St. Peter’s Basilica. Archbishop Robert Carlson
received the pallium from Pope Benedict XVI on June 29.
Barb’s husband, Deacon Chuck, was able to assist at all the
Masses.
Class of 1967
Holly Krummenacher Iglesias is now a member of the
faculty in the Master of Liberal Arts Program at University
of North Carolina-Asheville. Her first collection of poetry,
Souvenirs of a Shrunken World, was published by Kore
Press last fall and her next book, Angles of Approach, will
be released by White Pine Press in early 2011. She was
awarded a fellowship in poetry from the North Carolina Arts
Council this year. And she is the grandmother of four boys,
all of whom live in Miami—AJ (5), Jack (2), Nicholas (4)
and Michael (1).
Class of 1971
Kevyn Schroeder was named one of Barron’s Top 1,000
Advisors 2009 in Missouri.
Class of 1990
Amy Tucker Ryan and husband, Andrew, announce the birth
of their son, Joseph Delany Ryan, born on June 5, 2009.
Amy is an attorney with Martin, Leigh, Laws and Fritzlen,
P.C. where she practices bankruptcy law.
Mary Ann Bush Williams’ husband, Captain Benjamin
Williams, will be deployed back to Iraq on September
18, the 2-year birthday of their daughter, Sophie, and one
week before son, Alex’s, 4th birthday. Please keep Captain
Williams, and all others serving overseas in your thoughts
and prayers.

Amy K. Shasserre joined the law firm of Behr, McCarter
& Potter. Her practice is concentrated in the areas of
professional negligence defense and civil litigation. Amy
is a 1999 graduate of Saint Louis University and a 2003
graduate of Washington University School of Law.
Heather Hayden Lawler and husband, Shane, welcomed
daughter Evelyn Clare in April 2009. Big brother, Gus,
is 2.

Ellen Chilenski married Mike Woerner on May 17, 2008.
Anne Chilenski ‘98 served as maid of honor, and Sarah
Brown ‘95 was also a part of the wedding. The couple
currently resides in Auckland, New Zealand.

Kelly Kraft Jurotich opened a full service wedding and
event florist, The Crimson Petal, in Webster Groves. Special
