IMPORTANT NOTESPower Supply: Use of Batteries301●302●Do not connect this unit to same electrical outlet that is beingused by an electrical appliance that is controlled by aninverter (such as a refrigerator, washing machine, microwaveoven, or air conditioner), or that contains a motor. Dependingon the way in which the electrical appliance is used, powersupply noise may cause this unit to malfunction or mayproduce audible noise. If it is not practical to use a separateelectrical outlet, connect a power supply noise filter betweenthis unit and the electrical outlet. The AC adaptor will begin to generate heat after long hours ofconsecutive use. This is normal, and is not a cause for concern.304a● When installing or replacing batteries, always turn off thepower on this unit and disconnect any other devices you mayhave connected. This way, you can prevent malfunction and/or damage to speakers or other devices.307● Before connecting this unit to other devices, turn off thepower to all units. This will help prevent malfunctions and/ordamage to speakers or other devices.Placement351●Using the unit near power amplifiers (or other equipmentcontaining large power transformers) may induce hum. Toalleviate the problem, change the orientation of this unit; ormove it farther away from the source of interference.352a● This device may interfere with radio and television reception.Do not use this device in the vicinity of such receivers.352b● Noise may be produced if wireless communications devices, such as cell phones, are operated in the vicinity of this unit.Such noise could occur when receiving or initiating a call, orwhile conversing. Should you experience such problems, youshould relocate such wireless devices so they are at a greaterdistance from this unit, or switch them off.354a● Do not expose the unit to direct sunlight, place it near devicesthat radiate heat, leave it inside an enclosed vehicle, orotherwise subject it to temperature extremes. Excessive heatcan deform or discolor the unit.355b● When moved from one location to another where thetemperature and/or humidity is very different, water droplets(condensation) may form inside the unit. Damage ormalfunction may result if you attempt to use the unit in thiscondition. Therefore, before using the unit, you must allow itto stand for several hours, until the condensation hascompletely evaporated.360●Depending on the material and temperature of the surface onwhich you place the unit, its rubber feet may discolor or marthe surface. You can place a piece of felt or cloth under the rubber feet toprevent this from happening. If you do so, please make surethat the unit will not slip or move accidentally.Maintenance401a● For everyday cleaning, use a soft, dry cloth (such as those usedto clean eyeglasses) to wipe the unit clean. If dust or dirt hassettled on the surface, we recommend that you gently dust offthe unit before you wipe it, since dust particles can act like anabrasive and scratch the unit‘s surface if you wipe it withoutclearing away the dust first. For stubborn dirt, use a clothdampened with mild detergent. Note that some detergentsmay contain solvents; make sure that the detergent you usedoes not contain a solvent.402● Never use benzine, thinners, alcohol or solvents of any kind, toavoid the possibility of discoloration and/or deformation.Repairs and Data452●Please be aware that all data contained in the unit’s memorymay be lost when the unit is sent for repairs. Important datashould always be backed up on a USB memory, or writtendown on paper (when possible). During repairs, due care istaken to avoid the loss of data. However, in certain cases (suchas when circuitry related to memory itself is out of order), weregret that it may not be possible to restore the data, andRoland assumes no liability concerning such loss of data.Additional Precautions551●552●553●554●Please be aware that the contents of memory can beirretrievably lost as a result of a malfunction, or the improperoperation of the unit. To protect yourself against the risk ofloosing important data, we recommend that you periodicallysave a backup copy of important data you have stored in theunit’s memory on a USB memory.Unfortunately, it may be impossible to restore the contents ofdata that was stored in the unit’s memory once it has beenlost. Roland Corporation assumes no liability concerning suchloss of data.Use a reasonable amount of care when using the unit’sbuttons, sliders, or other controls; and when using its jacksand connectors. Rough handling can lead to malfunctions.Never strike or apply strong pressure to the display.7
