All that is old. He saysabout Art that it is decrepit, that it has got into a blind alley, that itis not what it ought to be, and so on, and so on. That’s just likesaying the desire to eat and drink has grown old, has outlived itsday, and is not what it ought to be. Of course hunger is an old story,in the desire to eat we have got into a blind alley, but still eating isnecessary, and we shall go on eating however the philosophers andirate old men moralise ….357
