attending Bethany Lutheran College (to play
baseball, OK to learn too). My son Britt will be
starting 8th grade this year and he is also very
busy with sports (basketball and baseball). So
that is how I’ve spent my time since the last
reunion. I’ve seen a lot of classmates whose
children are the same ages at these events.
I’m looking into finding some hobbies of my
own too, though I don’t think that I’m finished
watching sporting events yet. I have been
thinking lately that I would really like to learn
how to ride horses. I would also like to volunteer
some time working with the Humane
Society and/or maybe Habitat for Humanity.
Maybe take some classes at SCTC or MSU. I
would also like to go white water rafting. Who
knows where life will take me? Just like Nike
says, just “do it”.
I took my son Trevor out to New York and Bos-

ton for his graduation gift. We took a Sports
and Travel Tour and watched the Twins play
baseball against the New York Yankees at Yankee
Stadium and the Boston Red Sox at Fenway
Park. We also visited Cooperstown for the
Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. We visited
the Statue of Liberty, took the subway, and saw
a Broadway play, “Mama Mia” (that brought
back memories with all the ABBA songs). We
walked to Time Square, Grand Central Station
and the Empire State Building (our hotel was
only blocks away). Four years before I took my
daughter to Cancun where we went horse back
riding and snorkeling. I wonder where I will
visit in five more years when I get to take my
son Britt somewhere for his graduation.

All in all, it has been a pretty good 25 years
since leaving West and packing off to the U of
M. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical
Engineering, developed some lifelong friends
and met my beautiful wife there. After college
we lived in Minneapolis working and hanging
out. I have been back in Mankato since 1992
and after a few years of asking myself what the
hell I am I doing here we began to integrate
back into the community. Having our son
Noah changed our viewpoint a lot too, and as I
thought back—this really wasn’t a bad a place
to grow up. From what I have been reading
about Mankato lately, I guess others agree, as
Mankato was rated in the top 10 places to raise
children.
