Citizens of otherstates are required to have a student visa whichauthorizes them to a single entry for receiving aresidence permit and to stay for maximum 30 daysin Hungary.When applying for a visa, students need a validpassport (the validity of which has to exceed thatof the requested visa by at least three months).3–5 days after entering the country they need tocontact the Immigration Office and apply for theirresidence permit. The hostelaccommodation is provided on a first come, firstserved basis. Hostel monthly rent: 170–250 USD;monthly utilities: 90–160 USD.Apartments for rent are also available for internationalstudents. The University will assist studentsfree of any charge in finding accommodationand signing the contract with the landlords.Health InsuranceA general health insurance valid for Hungary is arequirement for registration for each semester atthe University of Szeged.Generali-Providencia Insurance: The Generali-Providencia Insurance Company offers students ahealth insurance plan. Medical care is provided bythe University doctors on campus. Conditions areavailable at registration. The insurance is validonly in Hungary.International health insurance: Internationalhealth insurances are only acceptable if theyoffer full coverage in Hungary. The insurance isusually contracted in the student’s home coun-
