Gauge Pole Float and SleeveVarious regulatory agencies are requiringthat slotted gauge/guide poles be equippedwith an emissions control system. The HMTGauge Pole Float and Sleeve has beendesigned to significantly reduce hydrocarbonemissions from slotted gauge/guide poleslocated on either external or internalfloating roof storage tanks. The HMT Gauge Pole Float and Sleevefeatures a “low-profile,” stainless steel sleevecontaining a 25-mil PetroflexTM PTFE(Teflon®) liner and pole wiper. This linerprovides excellent chemical and abrasionresistance and effectively closes the slots inthe gauge pole. The sleeve is equipped witha stainless steel slide plate containing a10-mil reinforced Teflon gasket. The sleeve completely seals off all the slotsof the gauge pole within the gauge well, eliminating vapor emissions through thegauge pipe. The stainless steel float contains a 10-milTeflon wiper and is designed to operate inspecific gravities ranging from 0.60 to 1.00.It effectively “plugs” the gauge pole, preventing vapors from escaping tothe atmosphere. Both the float and sleeve are designed to beinstalled with the storage tank remaining inservice. Additionally, the HMT Gauge PoleFloat Basin should be considered as part ofthis complete installation for additionalemission control. This new emission control system is anotherexample product of HMT’s“InnovativeSolutions” philosophy and commitment toproviding quality products to the petroleumindustry.Contact your local HMT Representative todiscuss the full suite of products andservices that will satisfy all your AST needs.
