ChapterChapter8Security for the Web componentsThe <strong>Borland</strong> VisiBroker Server allows you to secure the web components using theconventions of encryption, authentication, and authorization.Like the security measures provided by the J2EE standards, where security is set atthe module level, you can also secure web components by declaring the securitymechanism within their configuration files.Security for the Apache web serverThe Apache web server uses data transport encryption technology for security.VisiBroker supports the mod_ssl module for this purpose. This module provides strongcryptography for Apache Web Server via the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL v2/v3) andTransport Layer Security (TLS v1) protocols by the help of the Open Source SSL/TLStoolkit OpenSSL.The VisiBroker Server provides mod_ssl which is now supported directly into theApache web server, and is based on OpenSSL version 0.9.6g.Modifying the Apache configuration file for mod_sslTo enable mod_ssl, you must modify the httpd.conf file located in: /var/domains//configurations//mos//conf by un-commenting the following line:LoadModule ssl_module /lib//mod_ssl.soChapter 8: Security for the Web components 77
