PROJECT TITLE : <strong>Asphalt</strong> <strong>Overlay</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>CDC</strong> <strong>Roads</strong>LOCATION : <strong>Clark</strong> <strong>Freeport</strong> <strong>Zone</strong>, PhilippinesSCOPE OF WORK1. This project must be fully carried out in accordance to Standard Specificationand testing requirements <strong>of</strong> latest edition <strong>of</strong> DPWH Volume II. Theconstruction procedures includes the removal <strong>of</strong> all foreign loose objects onthe finished surface <strong>of</strong> the existing deteriorated asphalt pavement, Spraying<strong>of</strong> Bituminous Tack Coat (SS-1) and Laying <strong>of</strong> Bituminous Concrete SurfaceCourse, Hot-laid material both in FDLRC basis.2. Before mobilization activity commences, the supplier must coordinate properlyto <strong>CDC</strong>-ECMD Representative for proper implementation. Temporary warningbarricades and safety signs must be installed during blowing <strong>of</strong> foreign looseobjects, spraying <strong>of</strong> SS-1 and laying <strong>of</strong> Bituminous Concrete Surface CourseHot-laid.3. All foreign loose objects on the surface <strong>of</strong> existing deteriorated asphaltpavement shall be removed using air compressor prior to spraying <strong>of</strong>Bituminous Tack (SS-1).4. When Bituminous Tack Coat has been applied, the application <strong>of</strong> BituminousConcrete Surface Course, Hot-laid material shall follow.5. Laying <strong>of</strong> 0.05m thick Bituminous Concrete Surface Course, Hot-laid materialshall maintain a temperature <strong>of</strong> not less than 107ºC (225ºF).6. The asphalt concrete shall be laid continuously as possible. However, ifstoppage occurs, joints must be brushed coat with emulsified asphalt. Whennecessary, this sticky substance shall be used to meet the field condition.7. Upon completion <strong>of</strong> laying <strong>of</strong> 0.05m thick Bituminous Concrete Surface Coursematerial, the layer must be compacted using tandem roller and pneumatic tireroller. Rolling shall begin at the sides and proceeds longitudinally paralleltoward the road centerline. The supplier must be aware that only appropriateequipment shall be used for compaction. Crushing <strong>of</strong> aggregate due toexcessive compaction is not permitted.8. When compaction is completed, the asphalt pavement must be core tested atthe supplier’s account for compaction and thickness determination in82
