2UTARHORIZONAUGUST 2012Collaboration at WorkUTAR signs three pactsMalaysia Institute for Supply ChainInnovation– academic cooperationFinancial Planning Association of Malaysia– approved CFP education providerUTAR and Financial Planning Association of Malaysia (FPAM)signed a MoU to offer Certified Financial Planner (CFP)certification programme at the university.The MoU was signed by UTAR President Ir Prof AcademicianDato’ Dr Chuah Hean Teik and FPAM President Wong Boon Choy,while UTAR Dean of Faculty of Business and Finance Dr ChoongChee Keong and FPAM Chief Executive Officer Chan Chow Hunsigned as witnesses.In a <strong>ceremony</strong> at UTAR Petaling Jaya Campus on 17 August2012, UTAR Vice President (Internationalisation and AcademicDevelopment) Prof Dr Ewe, on behalf of Prof Chuah, exchangedthe documents with Wong.Prof Ewe (second from left) and Dr Mahender exchanging MoU whileDr Lim (far left), Tan Sri Dr Zulkefli (centre) and Dr Tan look on.UTAR and Malaysia Institute for Supply Chain Innovation(MISI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) forcooperation at UTAR Petaling Jaya Campus on 3 July 2012.Signing on behalf of the two parties were UTAR VicePresident (Internationalisation and Academic Development)Professor Dr Ewe Hong Tat and MISI Chief Executive OfficerDr Mahender Singh. Dean of UTAR Faculty of ScienceAssociate Professor Dr Lim Tuck Meng and MISI EducationDirector Albert Tan signed as witnesses. Also present wasMISI Chairman Tan Sri Dr Zulkefli bin A. Hassan.Under the MoU, UTAR and MISI will collaborate to fosteradvancement in teaching, research, and promotinginternational reputation of both institutions throughstudent and staff exchange, joint research projects, trainingactivities, consulting services or conferences, and otheracademic activities, particularly those that are related tothe advancement of education and research in supply chainand logistics.Under the MoU, FPAM appointed UTAR as an approvededucation provider for its CFP certification programme. Subjectto conditions, UTAR students of Bachelor of Finance (Hons)and Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) Bankingand Finance are given maximum exemptions of three outof six modules of the programme. In addition, both partieswill collaborate on research projects, sharing of expertise,programme development, study visits, and academic activitiessuch as conferences and workshops.Prof Ewe (second from left) exchanging MoU with Wong, while Dr Choong (left) andChan look on.King Mongkut’s University of Technology NorthBangkok (KMUTNB)– New partnerUTAR and KMUTNB signed a MoU via correspondence on 1 August 2012. Under theMoU, the two universities would work towards collaboration in the areas of researchand development, academic activities, staff and student exchange, and credit transferarrangements.
