14UTARHORIZONAUGUST 2012Students in ActionMilk a deal at exhibitionAbout 400 visitors including students from a few secondary schools turnedout at an exhibition held by UTAR Centre of Foundation Studies (CFS) at UTARPetaling Jaya Campus on 23 June 2012.Various activities were carried out throughout the one-day event. BesidesCFS staff and students, some activities even involved the students’ parents.Among the highlights was a sharing session by entrepreneur Shaun Lee, cofounderof Milk-A-Deal – an e-business budget deal portal.Another highlight was Choong Jian Han and Nevins Chan’s jaw-droppingperformance, in which the duo blindfoldedly solved the Rubik cube puzzlewithin three minutes.The exhibition was a fun-filled platform for CFS students to showcase theknowledge that they have learnt. Alsopresent at the <strong>ceremony</strong> was UTAR Vice President (Student Development and AlumniRelations) Dr Teh Chee Seng (right).Soft skills get-togetherUTAR alumni, students and external trainers of UTAR Departmentof Soft Skills Competency (DSSC) got together for a dinner at UTARPetaling Jaya Campus on 28 July 2012. The dinner was organised byDCCS Klang Valley.“DSSC plays a vital role in equipping UTAR students with relevantsoft skills which help them to realise their fullest potential. Ourstudents’ successes are partly attributed to the department,”said UTAR Vice President (Internationalisation and AcademicDevelopment) Prof Dr Ewe Hong Tat. He urged current studentsto take advantage of the trainings and activities organised by DSSC toenhance their skills and talents.Also present at the dinner was UTAR Vice President (Students Development and Alumni Relations) Dr TehChee Seng. The night started with an icebreaking session (picture) for all to get to know each other, followed by agood meal, lucky draw and performances by students.
