The South <strong>Jail</strong> has a rated510 inmate capacity. It isdesigned to house theunsentenced population aswell as behavioral/ protectedinmates. There are 21 officersassigned to work within thisfacility at all times.South <strong>Jail</strong>2 Administrative Segregation units- 63 “wet cells” per unit6 General Population Units- 64 “dry cells” per unit


The <strong>Jail</strong> Core is made up of 4specific areas:Booking & Release The receivingarea of all newly arrested suspectsand also the release point for thepretrial facility and cite releases.Transportation The area of allinmate movement coordination, bothon and off site.Intake Housing (4) The initialhousing from booking. These aredouble bunked cells toaccommodate jail overcrowding.Medical/ Sheltered Housing Theseare areas in which inmates/ patientswith medical and mental healthneeds can be attended to byproviding continual care.<strong>Jail</strong> CoreRated capacity 264ADP 450There are 22 Officerson shift at all times.


Honor FarmThe Honor Farm wasdesigned to house 493sentenced inmates. Ithas 3 barracks styleunits and one newerhousing unit. There are14 officers responsiblefor the 571 inmates.Approximately 15% ofthis population iscurrently unsentenced.Inmates housed at theHonor Farm have theopportunity to receiveeducation and jobtraining skills.

Kitchen ReplacementThe kitchen was built in 1949 serving ajail population of 900. It is currentlyserving a daily jail population of over 1500three meals a day.A new ‘cook-chill-serve’ kitchen would beequipped to service multiple countyfacilities (jail, juvenile hall, Mary Graham,Meals on Wheels, etc.)


Proposed KitchenThe proposed 20,000 square foot kitchenwill be able to store up to 3 weeks ofprepared food and provide culinary artsvocational training to inmates.The kitchen would have the ability toservice community needs in time ofnatural disaster (flood, earthquake, etc)


<strong>Jail</strong> expansionTransitional Remedies4 years from construction to housingPhase 2 beds (320) and kitchen facility estimated 6years from now– TEMPORARY SOLUTIONS:1. Contract food service from other jails2. House inmates at other facilities3. Design hybrid food service system using existing kitchenand off-site food preparation
