On the contrary, much foolishness is set forth inthe name of Christ and in churches dedicated to theservice of the Lord. We are not to imitate this courseand to strive for popularity in preaching. We are to followin the footsteps of Jesus and His disciples.Observation has taught us that those consecrated oneswho have permitted other themes than "this Gospel" toengross time and attention are in great danger of beingled astray. We advise such to be very jealous in husbandingtime and talent for the ministry of the Gospel. Letus leave all other subjects, no matter how interesting, toothers. In the future, when all knowledge shall be ours,we can discuss them. Those who from any avoidablecause turn aside from the ministry of the true and onlyGospel are quickly turned out of the way, or else aregreatly hindered in their course toward "the prize of thehigh calling."--Phil. 3:14.====================R5128 : page 342THE TWO PARTS OF THE WORK OF REDEMPTIONTHE STATEMENT of the Law is very positive--"The man that doeth these things shalllive by them." Whoever keeps God's commandswill live in them and will receiveeverlasting life as a reward for keepingthem. (Lev. 18:5; Rom. 10:5.) In makingthe promise of life to the Jews, God did nottell them in what manner He would arrangefor its fulfilment. As a matter of fact, althoughthe Jews did not understand thetypes of the Law Covenant, God had showed how thekeeping of that Covenant would give everlasting life;namely, through sacrifice.In His great Plan of the Ages God had already provideda Redeemer. (Eph. 1:4.) It was therefore inview of this provision of Divine grace that the promise oflife through keeping the Law could be made. But in givingthe Law Covenant, God did not omit the great Atonementsacrifice, which was the type of the work ofRedemption.That our Lord had some understanding with theHeavenly Father before He was made flesh is self-evident;for His change of nature is represented as a voluntaryact on His part.
