And when the voice was past, Jesus wasfound alone."--Luke 9:35.OUR STUDIES continue to appertain to Messiah'sKingdom of glory. Today's lessontells of a tableau illustration given to Hisdisciples respecting it. The lesson deeplyimpressed the three Apostles who witnessedthe vision, namely, Peter, James and John.St. Peter referred to it afterward in hisEpistle (2 Pet. 1:16-19), saying, "We havenot followed cunningly devised fables whenwe made known unto you the power andcoming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eye witnessesof His Majesty...when we were with Him in the holymount."Jesus prepared His disciples for the transfigurationvision, saying, "There be some of them that stand herewhich shall not taste of death until they see God's RoyalMajesty having come with power." The occasion will beremembered. Jesus had foretold His death, quite contraryto the previous expectations of the Apostles, and now Hesought to draw their minds gradually to a realization thatHis death would not mean a repudiation of the promiseof the Kingdom and its glory but a fulfilment of theirexpectations on a higher plane. Jesus would formallyoffer Himself to Israel as King riding upon the ass fivedays before His crucifixion; He would be despised andrejected and crucified; but His kingly office and workwould thereby only be confirmed. His authority to beKing of the earth, His authority to release mankind fromthe power of sin and death, His authority to uplifthumanity and to bring the earth in general to Paradiseconditions, would all be founded upon His sacrificialdeath at Calvary.All this was presented to the three chosen disciples
