have set themselves in opposition to progress, those whoknow the power of money may well fear that the chancesof the progressives are small. The money power, throughthe banks and bankers, has its influence upon all borrowersof money. There lies the danger. The power which canthus control nearly all of the influential is in danger ofcarrying its power too far and sitting upon the safety-valveR5062 : page 225until the explosion takes place--just such an explosionas the Bible warns us to expect.What should be the attitude of God's consecrated peopleat this time? They should remember the Master'swords and not be alarmed. He said, "When ye see thesethings begin to come to pass, lift up your heads, for yourdeliverance draweth nigh." (Luke 21:28.) This does notmean that we should ever act or feel boastfully, or evencarelessly, respecting the welfare of humanity so seriouslyat stake. It means that with quiet confidence we maylook up to God, and, realizing His omnipotence, wisdomand love, we may trust Him where we cannot trace Himand rest assured that all things are working together forgood--especially for the Church, but indirectly also forthe interests of all humanity.God's consecrated people should more than ever "settheir affections on things above and not on things on theearth." (Col. 3:2.) More than all, we should spend timeand influence in the service of God, of the Truth, of ourfamilies and of all men, so far as we have opportunity.We should do them good, calming instead of arousingtheir fears. Instead of dilating particularly upon thetrouble coming, we should expatiate especially upon thetime beyond the trouble, encouraging them to faith in theOmnipotent One who has promised that through the Seedof Abraham "all the families of the earth shall be blessed."--Gal. 3:29.Today we have wonderful opportunities. The worldis waking up and inquiring about the meaning of thewonderful things of our day. Intelligent people are perplexed.They need the very light upon the Divine Planwhich we have for them. The Golden Rule bids us dotoward them as we would have them do towards us, if wewere in the dark and they in the light. The Class Extensionwork is being greatly blessed and is reachingmany. The Colporteur work is gathering, we believe,many ripe grains.On the whole, the Lord's blessing seems to be speciallymanifest thus far this year. No doubt many who are nowreceiving the Truth respecting the Harvest time, etc.,have been God's children for a considerable time, andunder Divine providential guidance, direction, discipline,in preparation for the Kingdom.
