later at Calvary, accomplished two things: one for Israelonly, the other for the whole world.Since the children of Israel, as well as the other nations, were Adam's posterity, they in common with othersshared his sentence of death, and were redeemed by ourLord's offering of Himself a sin-offering and correspondingprice for Adam and those who lost life in Adam.(Rom. 5:12,18.) But since Israel alone, and no othernation or family or people of earth, had been broughtunder the terms of the Law Covenant made with them atMt. Sinai, therefore only Israelites needed to be "redeemedfrom the curse of the Law [Covenant]."--Gal. 3:13.That the one Man, Christ Jesus, could justly redeemour race is stated by the Apostle, and is clearly evidentwhen we see that all men were sentenced in the one manAdam; but how could one man redeem the multitudinousnation of Israel from the curse of their Law Covenant?MOSES THE TYPICAL FATHER OF ISRAELWe answer that in connection with Israel's Covenantthere is a point that few have noticed. It is that Goddealt with only one man in connection with the makingof that Law Covenant; and that man was Moses, whostood in the position of a father to the whole nation, thenation being regarded and treated as children under age.See Moses' own words regarding the matter: "AndMoses said unto the Lord, Wherefore hast Thou afflictedThy servant? And wherefore have I not found favorin Thy sight that Thou layest the burden of all thispeople upon me? Have I conceived all this people?Have I begotten them, that Thou shouldest say unto me,Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing father bearing thesucking child, unto the land which Thou swearest untotheir fathers? Whence should I have flesh to give unto allthis people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give usflesh that we may eat. I am not able to bear all thispeople alone, because it is too heavy for me. And if Thoudeal thus with me, kill me, I pray Thee, out of hand, if Ihave found favor in Thy sight; and let me not see mywretchedness."--Num. 11:11-15.The Lord talked with Moses in the Mount. The Lordgave the tables of the Law to Moses. And Moses spoketo the people, gave them the Law and bound them by theterms of the Law Covenant."Moses alone shall come near the Lord."--Exod. 24:2."As the Lord spoke unto Moses, so did the children ofIsrael."--Num. 5:4."The people cried unto Moses; and Moses prayed untothe Lord."--Num. 11:2.God "sent Moses His servant."--Psa. 105:26."They envied Moses also in the camp."--Psa. 106:16."He [God] said that He would destroy them, had notMoses, His chosen, stood before Him in the breach."--Psa. 106:23.
