elevating in themselves, but which would be harmful anddegrading to us if we allow them to occupy consecratedtime and to divert our attention from the one thing weought to be doing. The Apostle warns us to "Shun profane and vainbabblings; for they will increase unto more ungodliness";but counsels, "Study to show thyself approved unto God,a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividingthe Word of Truth"; "Teach no other doctrine, neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, whichminister questions rather than godly edifying which is infaith."--2 Tim. 2:16,15; I Tim. 1:3,4.HOW NARROW THIS WAY!Is not this a very narrow way? Yes, so narrow thatour Lord foretold respecting it, "Strait [difficult] is thegate and narrow is the way which leadeth unto [the]life, and few there be that find it!" (Matt. 7:14.) Hear him in hiszeal for this one thing to which he had devoted his life:"And I, brethren, when I came unto you, came notwith the excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaringunto you the mystery of God; for I determinednot to know anything among you save Jesus Christ andHim crucified. [I riveted your attention on this onething! I kept this one thing continually before you.]...
