Thus are the demands of Divine Law met in respectto the Church. But the Church's covenant means morethan merely the observance of the Law; it is a covenant tosacrifice, and Justice, the Divine Law, could not demandsacrifice. The Church's covenant, which she shares withher Lord and Redeemer, is an agreement to sacrifice allearthly interests in the doing of the Divine will at anycost. The reward for the keeping of this covenant willbe obtained in the First Resurrection change to heavenlyglory, honor and immortality. The terms of this covenantread: "Gather together My saints unto Me, saith theLord, those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice."--Psa. 50:5.FULFILLING THE PROPHETS ALSOTo the Jew it seemed as though the Gospel invitationwould make void all the Prophets, of whom Saint Petersaid that all the holy Prophets since the world began hadspoken of restitution times and blessings at the coming ofMessiah. This isthe present work--the work of selecting the class mentionedby the Psalmist, saying, "I have said ye are gods, all of you sons of the Highest; but ye shall all die likemen."--Psa. 82:6.The Law and the Prophets point out the necessity ofa Priestly class under the High Priest--of a sacrificingclass which would become a Royal Priesthood. Theseprophecies are in process of fulfilment; neither the Lawnor the Prophets are being ignored. Soon this feature ofthe Divine Plan will have been accomplished; the Churchwill be glorified with her Lord, and then those featuresof the Law and the Prophets which dazzle the eyes ofIsrael will begin to be fulfilled, and will bring them blessing, and through them blessing to the world, far beyondtheir highest conceptions. If therefore any of the followers of Jesus should violatethe Ten Commandments and teach men so to do, itwould manifestly be done through ignorance and misunderstanding, and he would thus mark himself as a follower
