NIKE THE CHANCE CONTEST – OFFICIAL RULES
These are the official rules (“Official Rules”) of NIKE’s The Chance contest and may be
amended or updated by NIKE at any time. The current version of the Official Rules shall
be made available on NIKE’s website at www.nikefootball.com.
1. No Purchase Required to Enter or Win the Contest (“the Contest”)
No purchase is required to enter the Contest. By entering this Contest, individual entrants
(“Entrants”) accept and agree to be bound by these Official Rules which may be varied by
NIKE from time to time. The current version of the Official Rules shall be made available
on NIKE’s website at www.nikefootball.com.
2. Important Notice for Amateur Athletes
Entrants are responsible for ensuring that their use of or participation in the activities of
this Contest does not affect their eligibility as an amateur athlete. Please check with your
amateur athletic association for the rules that apply to you. NIKE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE
OR LIABLE FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THIS CONTEST RESULTING IN YOUR
INELIGIBILITY AS AN AMATEUR ATHLETE.
3. Who is eligible?
The Contest is open only to residents of the countries at Annex 1 to these Official Rules
who are over 16 years of age at the time of entry. Entrants aged between 16 and 18
must have consent from their parent or legal guardian to enter the Contest. Entrants
attending the Global Final and Winners of the Grand Prize must have a valid passport and
visa for all travel. Employees of NIKE USA, Inc., its parent company, NIKE, Inc., their
subsidiaries and affiliates, or of other companies associated with the promotion of the

Contest, as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) and
household members of each such employee are not eligible.
4. Who is sponsoring the Contest?
The Contest is sponsored by Nike European Operations Netherlands B.V. whose registered
office is at Colosseum 1, 1213, NL Hilversum, The Netherlands (“NIKE”). NIKE reserves
the right to modify or cancel this promotion at any time and, in the event of cancellation,
substitute another in its place. This information will be published on NIKE’s website at
www.nikefootball.com. This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by,
or associated with, Facebook. You understand that you are providing your information to
NIKE and not to Facebook. The information you provide to Nike will only be used for
purposes of the Contest.
5. How do I enter?
The Contest will begin on 05 th March 2012 and will continue until 27 th June 2012 (the
“Entry Period”). During the Entry Period there will be 4 stages:
a. STAGE 1: SCOUTING
Entrants can enter in three ways:
(i) Entrants can set up a Facebook fan page with details of their football
achievements and encourage people to become a fan of their page.
Entrants should then register their Facebook fan page at
nikefootball.com and NIKE staff will decide which Entrants will go
through to Stage 2 based on the popularity of the Facebook fan page
and the skill level of the Entrant’s football achievements, as
demonstrated on the Facebook fan page. NIKE staff may contact the
Entrant to verify the information posted on the fan page. Entrants
must make sure that their Facebook fan page only contains images of
themselves. Entrants’ Facebook fan page must not contain any
images, videos, music and/or other media that that are copyrighted,
trademarked, protected by trade secret or otherwise subject to third
party proprietary rights, including privacy and publicity rights, unless
Entrant is the owner of such rights or has permission from their
rightful owner to post the material. Entrants must comply at all
times with the rules of Facebook.
(ii) Entrants can be identified by NIKE or associated football scouts or
coaches at a NIKE or other football scouting event between 05 th
2 of 10

March 2012 and the 27 th June 2012 as having the football skill level
to qualify them to go through to Stage 2.
(iii) NIKE may personally request an Entrant to go through to Stage 2 as
they are known to NIKE as a high quality footballer who does not
currently have a professional contract and who would be eligible to
participate in this Contest.
b. STAGE 2: REGIONAL FINALS
Those selected in Stage 1 (“Stage 1 Finalists”) will be invited to the Regional
Finals which will consist of football trials in the UK between 28 th June 2012 and
the 01 st July 2012 where they will be tested by NIKE or associated football scouts
or coaches for their football ability. Tests are likely to include fitness, skill and
game play. NIKE or associated football scouts or coaches will, at their sole
discretion, select the Stage 1 Finalists with the highest level of footballing ability
to go through to the next Stage (“Stage 2 Finalists”).
NIKE will not pay for any transportation or any other costs in relation to the Stage
1 Finalists attendance at the Regional Finals – all such costs must be paid for by
the Entrant. Notwithstanding Nike may choose to provide hospitality to Entrants at
the Regional finals but is under no obligation to do so.
c. STAGE 3: GLOBAL FINAL
The Stage 2 Finalists will be sent to Barcelona (Spain) for a final trial against other
Stage 2 Finalists from all over the world. The Global Final will be run in a similar
way as the Regional Finals and players will be tested for their football ability with
tests including fitness, skill and game play. NIKE or associated football scouts or
coaches will, at their sole discretion, select 16 Stage 2 Finalists from around the
world with the highest level of footballing ability to go through to the next Stage,
which is the Grand Prize, (the “Winners” and each “a “Winner”).
Nike will pay for transportation costs to transport the Entrant from their country of
residence to the Global Final in Barcelona. Nike will also pay for reasonable
accommodation, transfers and hospitality costs for Entrants while they are
attending the Global Final.
STAGE 4: THE GRAND PRIZE
The 16 Winners (who could come from any country and may or may not include a
Entrant from each entering country) will be given the chance to tour with The

NIKE Academy as an “elite” football team. This international tour will run at a
time to be decided by Nike in its sole direction between September 2012 and
February 2013 and will connect with NIKE football clubs and coaches around the
world offering the 16 Winners a platform to showcase their football talent.
6. How will winners be selected?
Selection will be made as follows:
a. Selection for the UK Final between 05 th March 2012 and 27 th June 2012
Selection by NIKE based on any one of the following criteria:
(i) football performance at a NIKE event or an officially organized event
attended by NIKE or associated football scouts or coaches; and/or
(ii) demonstration of ability through description on social media fan
page; and/or amount of support to Facebook fan page.
b. Selection for the Global Final –28 th June 2012 and 1 st July 2012
Selection by NIKE or associated football scouts or coaches will be based on
observation of football performance. NIKE or associated football scouts will, in
their sole discretion, draw upon information from fitness tests such as SPARQ,
skill tests (from Elite Training Live), GPS match data and from 11-a-side game
assessment.
c. Selection for the Grand Prize to take place between August 17 th and August 27 th
2012
Winners will be selected by NIKE or associated football scouts or coaches based
on their ability and potential to play football at a professional level. The key
criteria will be fitness, technique, skill and demonstration of having the mental
strength to compete at the highest level. Each player will be given an opportunity
to perform in a full 11v11 game in front of the judges as well as partaking in
fitness and skill tests.
Decisions of NIKE are final and binding in all respects, and by participating, Entrant
agrees to be bound by these Official Rules and NIKE’s decisions. Notification of Finalists
and Winners will be published on www.nikefootball.com.
7. What can I win?

Winners will receive an all-expenses paid tour to a number of professional football clubs
located around the world (“the Tour”) to include:
a. Round-trip coach-class airfare to Portland Oregon from [airport in country] nearest
Winner’s home;
b. Hotel accommodations or University halls of residence, for the duration of the Tour
(one standard room, double occupancy) at a NIKE-designated hotel or other
premises;
c. Meals;
d. Ground transportation (travel from airport to hotel and to any football and Tour
facilities); and
e. Access to football facilities (training and playing on professional quality football
pitches with access to professional facilities such as coaching and physiotherapy).
Approximate retail value (“ARV”): up to £15,300 each
8. Trip Restrictions
Departure dates and times are subject to availability and at the sole discretion of NIKE.
Certain restrictions and blackout dates may apply. If Finalist/Winner is unavailable to
travel on required dates, the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner may be
selected. Actual value may vary depending on Finalist/Winner’s point of travel origin,
airfare and hotel fluctuations. Any difference between stated ARV and actual value will
not be awarded. Airport, airline, tickets and/or hotel accommodations are to be selected
by NIKE in its sole discretion.
Any Finalist/Winner travelling to the Regional Final, Grand Final and on the Tour shall be
responsible for all applicable visa, permit or other travel authorisations. NIKE may assist
with any such visa applications and/or permissions but shall have no responsibility or
liability to any Finalist/Winner who fails to secure a visa or applicable travel permissions.
All cost and expenses in relation to obtaining such visa, permit or other travel
authorisations shall be borne by such Finalist/Winner. Finalists/Winners will not be
afforded any compensation by NIKE if they are unable to secure a visa or applicable travel
permissions.
Insurance, all expenses and incidentals not mentioned above are the responsibility of the
Entrant. Any Finalist/Winner shall be obtain their own travel insurance and shall provide a
copy of such travel insurance to NIKE on request. All travel must be completed on the
dates specified by NIKE, or the prize will be forfeited. Entrants participation in any or all
activities associated with this Contest is voluntary. In the event that Entrants elect not to

participate in any or all designated activities forming part of the Contest, Entrants will be
afforded no additional compensation in exchange therefore.
Any prize details not specified above will be determined by NIKE in its sole discretion.
Prizes are not transferable and must be accepted as awarded. No cash or other
substitution may be made, except by NIKE, who reserves the right to substitute a prize
with another prize of equal or greater value if the prize is not available for any reason as
determined by NIKE in its sole discretion.
Minors must have a consent form signed by their parent or legal guardian granting their
consent for the minor to participate in each stage of the Contest, to undergo physical or
other tests, for the minor’s personal data to be processed and to sign a Tour contract if the
minor is a potential winner. In respect of the Global Final, the minors parent or legal
guardian must sign a consent form granting a suitable NIKE chaperon the authority to
accompany the minor to the Global Final and (if applicable) on the Tour and for such
chaperone to approve any emergency medical needs of the minor that may occur during
and/or as a consequence of the Contest. NIKE will provide at its sole discretion and
expense provide 1 chaperones per 4 Winners.
Minors will not be permitted to partake in the tour without a signed consent form.
The Winner is responsible for taxes and any and all other costs and expenses not listed.
9. What may a potential winner be required to do?
Except where prohibited, a potential winner may be required to complete and return all
required documentation, including an executed applicable Consent form for each stage of
the Contest.
Before the start of the Tour, a Winner will also be required to: (i) pass a physical, date to
be decided by Winner’s respective Nike country; (ii) remain injury free; and (iii) sign a
Tour contract. If the Winner is not able to complete the above requirements, they will be
disqualified without any right to compensation.
If a potential Winner declines to accept the prize, has violated any of these Official Rules,
or fails to sign and return the required documents within the required time period, an
alternate entrant will not be selected.
10. What other terms should I be aware of?
By participating in the Contest, Entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the
determinations of NIKE, which shall be final. Any violation of the Official Rules may result

in disqualification. NIKE has no obligation to notify violators of their disqualification.
Unless prohibited by law Entrants, or if Entrant is aged under 18 then Entrant’s parent or
legal guardian, agrees to allow use of Entrants name, voice, place of residence,
photograph, and/or likeness for advertising and/or trade and/or any other purpose in any
media or format now or hereafter known without further compensation, permission or
notification.
The Contest is subject to all country and local laws and regulations and is void where
prohibited by law. In the event that the operation, security, or administration of the
Contest is impaired in any way for any reason, including, but not limited to fraud, virus, or
other technical problem, NIKE may, in its sole discretion, either: (a) suspend the Contest
to address the impairment and then resume the Contest in a manner that best conforms to
the spirit of these Official Rules; or (b) award the prize at random from among the eligible
entries received up to the time of the impairment. NIKE reserves the right in its sole
discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or
the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or in an
unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to undermine the
legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and,
should such an attempt be made, NIKE reserves the right to seek damages from any such
person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Failure by NIKE to enforce any term of
these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
To the extent permitted by law by participating in the Contest, Entrants agree to release
and hold harmless Facebook, NIKE, its parent and related companies, and their respective
officers, directors, employees, and agents (the “Released Parties”) from and against any
claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Contest or receipt or use of any
prize, including, but not limited to: (a) unauthorized human intervention in the Contest;
(b) technical errors related to computers, servers, providers, or telephone or network lines;
(c) printing errors; (d) lost, late, postage-due, misdirected, or undeliverable mail; (e) errors
in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries; or (f) injury or damage to
persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from
entrant’s participation in the Contest or receipt or use of any prize. To the extent
permitted by law and with the exception of liability for gross negligence or willful
misconduct of the Released Parties, Entrants further agree that in any cause of action (i)
the Released Parties’ liability will be limited to the cost of participating in the Contest, and
in no event shall the Released Parties be liable for legal fees and (ii) Entrant waives the
right to claim any damages whatsoever that may arise in connection with these Official
Rules or Entrant's participation in the Contest.
In order to participate in the Contest, Entrants will be required to supply certain
information about themselves on the Contest entry page. NIKE has specified which
information is mandatory in order to participate in the Contest. This information will be

used by NIKE for the purposes of administering the Contest. All personal information
provided by the Entrant will be subject to the NIKE Privacy and Cookie Policy which can
be found at http://nike-eu.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6.
11. How will disputes be handled?
These Official Rules and any disputes in connection thereto will be governed by and
construed in accordance with Dutch law. The parties hereby submit to the exclusive
jurisdiction of the competent courts in Amsterdam with respect to any disputes arising out
of or in connection with these Official Rules.

The names of the winners will be published on www.nikefootball.com.
