At Tipp City Schools, the students are in their last year of elementary school andpreparing for middle school. Fifth grade teachers provide anumber of special learning experiences throughout the year toprepare the students for middle school. Not only are the studentslearning the Core Standards of Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts; they get a daily dose of Computer, Art orMusic. While these are the expectations of school, L. T. Ball’steachers go above and beyond in teaching the Core Standards. InFifth Grade, students participate in the DARE Program; taughtby Officer Dan Rittenhouse. The DARE program gives childrenthe life skills they need to avoid involvement with alcohol, drugs, gangs, and violence. The Fifth Grade teachers are very instrumental and involved in the program. OnVeteran’s Day the fifth grade students go to the Veteran’s Memorial in Tipp City to participate in the program andlay a wreath to honor our community’s veterans. In January the fifth grade attends a performance at VictoriaTheater to enrich their experiences with the arts. The fifth grade teachers are also instrumental in organizing MathClub, the Blizzard Blast, Invention Convention, Creative Writing Club, Science Club, Art Club, the NativeAmerican Museum and Wax Museum. These valuable experiences leave a lasting impression on LT students. Thededication demonstrated by the teachers is yet another example of how our teachers go above and beyond to meetthe needs of Tipp students. Camp Kern is one of the most memorable events in a student’s educational career.Students talk about it for years; the L.T. Ball Fifth grade teachers know it’s a great educational opportunity for thestudents. The fifth grade teachers and parent chaperones spend the night with the students and are away from theirown families every year with no compensation for the extra hours and planning involved. And that is why the L.T.Ball teachers, (front row, left to right) Mrs. Ashley Flynn, Mrs. Beth Hanes, Mrs. Deborah Haas, Mrs. ChristaOen, Ms. Molly Flatter, Mr. Brad McKinley(back row, left to right) Mrs. Sandra Wagner, Miss Carrie Robison, Mrs. Kem Fischer, Mrs. Karen Weber, andMr. Mike Vagedes deserve to be In The Spotlight!
