Record Type-6shall not be contained in transactions con<strong>for</strong>ming to this version of the standard.5.3.7 Type-7 recordsType-7 was intended as a temporary measure to enable the exchange of image data thatwould be defined by specific record types in later versions of the standard. Since someolder systems still use this record type, it is included in the standard.5.3.8 Type-8 recordsType-8 records shall be used <strong>for</strong> scanned binary or vectored signature image data. EachType-8 record shall contain data representing the signature of the subject from whom thebiometric sample is being collected and/or the operator capturing biometric data.5.3.9 Type-9 recordsType-9 records shall contain and be used to exchange minutiae or other friction ridge featuredata. Each record shall represent the processed (automated and/or manual) image data fromwhich the characteristics are stated. The primary use of this record type shall be <strong>for</strong> remotesearching of latent prints. New to the <strong>2011</strong> version of the standard is the Extended FeatureSet (EFS) <strong>for</strong> latent print markups. There is also a capability to have additional vendorspecifiedfeature sets.[2013n>] New fields have been added to the EFS in the 2013 Update to facilitateoperation of the latent print workstation. [] The 2013 Update includes modifications to the Type-10 image record to allowtransmission of images of suspected patterned injuries of intraoral origin and images of theoral region of the body.36
