ANSI/NIST-ITL 1-2011 - UPDATE 2013 DRAFT VERSIONcontact shall serve as a registrar and maintain a repository including documentation for all ofits common and user-specific Type-2 data fields. As additional fields are required byspecific agencies for their own applications, new fields and definitions may be registeredand reserved to have a specific meaning. When this occurs, the domain or application profileregistrar is responsible for registering a single definition for each number used by differentmembers of the domain or application profile . There may be more than one Type-2 recordincluded in each transaction.[2013a>] For instance, the FBI EBTS profile of the standard has a transaction type: RapidFingerprint Identification Search Response (RPISR). “If two candidates are returned, aseparate Type-2 record will be included for each candidate. The FBI Number (FBI), Name(NAM), Place of Birth (POB), Status/Error Message (MSG), Electronic Rap Sheet (ERS),and Supplementary Identity Information (SII) fields will hold information unique to eachcandidate. In addition, the FBI Number (FBI) field of the first Type-2 record will contain asecond occurrence that holds the FBI Number of the candidate in the second Type-2 recordfor reference.” 13 [] It may be desirable in certain transactions to have a separate Type-2 record whendealing with multiple persons identities being used to establish or verify the identity of thesubject of the transaction (such as persons already identified in a voice recording). The2013 Update includes a new field to associate particular record instances with an identitydescribed in a particular instance of a Type-2 record. See Type-2 Record Cross reference /T2C. [] See FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION (FBI), CRIMINAL JUSTICEINFORMATION SERVICES (CJIS), Electronic Biometric Transmission Specification (EBTS),December 29, 2011.
