If the analysis has not been performed for that particular feature, orif the analysis has determined there are a number of those features present in the image, the fieldin the second column of Table 117 will be omitted from the transaction.F.5 Definitions of feature confidence and local qualityLocal friction ridge quality (Field 9.308: EFS ridge quality/confidence map / RQM) is anassessment of confidence in small local areas within an image. The local quality map is used todefine the confidence in all other features, and therefore is key information. In addition, whenthe quality map indicates a high-quality region in which features are not marked, thatinformation can be used as “negative features” or definitive absence of features, which can beused for exclusion.Accurate and consistent markup of local quality is essential, and the guidelines in Table 118 andFigure 29 should be followed as closely as possible. The names and color-coding indicated hereare the result of extensive research and user feedback and are normative.Table 118: Definitions for ridge quality map valuesMay, 2013 DRAFT VERSION UPDATE 2013 Page 487
