It is possible to enter only a year, month and/or dayrange, such D05, meaning that the actual date of collection isestimated to be 5 days plus or minus from that specified in MCD.* The third in<strong>for</strong>mation item is the mouth data ADA referencecode text / MARC. It is mandatory. Any code value in Section 10 ofthe ANSI/ADA Standard No. 1058 may be entered. Note that if onlygeneral in<strong>for</strong>mation is available, a high level number may be entered,such as 10.3.2.4, which corresponds to Maxillofacial Prosthesis. Ifmore detailed in<strong>for</strong>mation is available, a lower level code should beentered, such as 10.3.2.4.1.1, which indicates Maxilla (The prosthesisis used to replace portions of the maxilla). The listing of a codeindicates that the characteristic is present. If only general in<strong>for</strong>mationis available, a code with fewer nodes may be entered, such as 10.3.2.2,which corresponds to Partial Removable Denture. If availablein<strong>for</strong>mation is more detailed, a code with more nodes should beentered, such as 10.3.2.2.1, which indicates Kennedy Class I – ThisDescriptor is used to describe a removable prosthesis replacing teethon both sides of the arch where no other teeth exist posterior to theedentulous area.* The fourth in<strong>for</strong>mation item is the mouth additional descriptivetext / MADT. It is a Unicode free text in<strong>for</strong>mation item. It is used <strong>for</strong>those codes that require text, such as 10.3.5.1 Prosthetic / ID Data –used to describe any identifying Serial number on the appliance. Otherreference codes, such as 10.5.1.1.8.1 Cleft lip – used to indicate thenon-union of the soft tissue of the lip, would not have any in<strong>for</strong>mationrecorded in MADT.8.12.12 Field 12.012: Dental study and tooth imprints / DSTIThis field is optional and is used to transmit in<strong>for</strong>mation about models fabricatedfrom a dental arch impression or tooth imprints.* The first in<strong>for</strong>mation item is the dental study and toothimprints ADA reference code text / SARC. It is mandatory. Anycode in Section 7.5.1.1, 7.5.1.2 or 7.5.1.2 of the ANSI/ADA StandardNo. 1058 may be entered.* The second in<strong>for</strong>mation item is mandatory. It is the dental studyand tooth imprints additional descriptive text / SADT. It is aUnicode free text in<strong>for</strong>mation item. It may be used to describe thephysical location of the tooth imprint or dental study, if not stored inelectronic <strong>for</strong>mat.
