For applications wherelarger storage or heating capacities are required, gas firing becomes less tidy to apply sincethe storage cylinder is separated from the fired heat exchanger and the equivalent of asmall central system thus arises.With electrical on-peak heating, local multi-point supply is most conveniently arrangedusinga so-called combination type unit where heater and cold water cistern are fitted inone casing as shown in Figure 20.8. The heater may be cylindrical or rectangular for easywall fixing, and capacitities in the range 20±140 litre are available, normally with a 3 kWheatingelement.
