Supratec Gesellschaft für Umwelt- und Verfahrenstechnik mbH produces modern<br />
high efficient aeration systems, which are mainly used for oxygen transfer into<br />
biological waste water treatment. These products can also be used for any kind of<br />
transfer of gases into liquids<br />
OXYFLEX ® is the brand of <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong>s (plate, tubes and <strong>disc</strong>s) with a<br />
plastic body.<br />
The extra ordinary characteristics of OXYFLEX ® - MT <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong>s are<br />
given by its shape and the materials used.<br />
OXYFLEX ® - MT <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong>s is available in two diameters:<br />
• OXYFLEX ® -MT 235 (free <strong>membrane</strong> area) 235 mm and<br />
• OXYFLEX ® -MT <strong>300</strong> (free <strong>membrane</strong> area) <strong>300</strong> mm.<br />
The body is a round plate, made of glass reinforced made of Polypropylene. The<br />
<strong>membrane</strong> is fixed to this body with a plastic ring made as well of glass reinforced<br />
made of Polypropylene.<br />
Standard-<strong>membrane</strong> is made of EPDM.<br />
Membranes made of Silicone are available.<br />
The <strong>membrane</strong>s have a special slot-arrangement. Size and arrangement of those<br />
slots is optimized to reach maximum oxygen transfer efficiency.<br />
OXYFLEX ® - MT <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong>s have low pressure loss.<br />
Supratec<br />
OXYFLEX ® - MT <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong>s produce fine bubbles of a medium<br />
diameter < 2 mm.<br />
OXYFLEX ® - MT <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong>s are highly resistant against soiling.<br />
As, in difference to tube <strong>diffuser</strong>s, the whole active <strong>diffuser</strong>s surface is at the same<br />
hydraulic level, the <strong>membrane</strong>s are gazing evenly among the full range from<br />
minimal to maximal air flow. So, lifetime and efficiency is optimized.<br />
OXYFLEX ® - MT <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong>s can be operated intermittently.<br />

OXYFLEX ® - MT <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong>s can be used for all geometric forms of<br />
tanks, but they are extraordinarily good for small tanks and grit chambers or first<br />
high loaded stages.<br />
OXYFLEX ® - MT <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong>s are well established and are working to<br />
the clients satisfaction world-wide.<br />
OXYFLEX ® - MT <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong>s are compatible to PERMOX ® -T ceramic<br />
<strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong>s.<br />
OXYFLEX ® -MT <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong>s have a wide range, OXYFLEX ® -MT 235:<br />
0 - 8 Nm³/h and OXYFLEX ® -MT <strong>300</strong>: 0 - 10 Nm³/h.<br />
Die design air flow shall be about OXYFLEX ® -MT 235: 4 ± 1,5 Nm³/h and<br />
OXYFLEX ® -MT <strong>300</strong>: 5 ± 2 Nm³/h.<br />
OXYFLEX ® -MT <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong>s can reach specific oxygen transfer<br />
efficiency up to 25 gO2/Nm³xmsub, if coverage and water depth is favourable.<br />
For plants with partly intermittent operated tanks, OXYFLEX ® -MT <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong><br />
<strong>diffuser</strong>s can be combined with PERMOX ® - T ceramic <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong>s. However,<br />
different pressure losses have to be considered<br />

OXYFLEX -MT <strong>300</strong> <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong> are high efficient <strong>diffuser</strong>s, as they are mainly used for oxygen<br />
supply of biological waste water treatment plants.<br />
Beside procedural necessities important criterions to select the matching fine-bubble aeration-technology<br />
are features of a product.<br />

OXYFLEX -MT <strong>300</strong> <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong> are designed at a specific air-flow of 5 Nm³/h per unit.<br />
This is a good compromise between Invest -, overheads and range.<br />
The following table is showing figures, which are represented from an oxygen-efficiency-test.<br />
The values have been reached in a round-basin with water-depth of 3,85 m, submerge of <strong>diffuser</strong>s of 3,60 m<br />
and coverage of 9,7%.<br />
Those values are not transferable on other installations, as the deviation even more than ± 25%.<br />

Description<br />
OXYFLEX ® -MT <strong>300</strong> – <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong> has a solid,<br />
strengthen, horizontal body, made of glass-reinforced Polypropylene<br />
and a slipped over <strong>membrane</strong> (e.g.: EPDM).<br />
The uniform ring, made of glass-reinforced Polypropylene ensures the<br />
proper location of the <strong>membrane</strong>.<br />
The body has a connecting-threat (standard 1“-male), that will be fixed<br />
into a Polypropylene clamp.<br />
This clamp can be fastened by screws or wedges.<br />
The inserted gasket of the clamp seals the system.<br />

Supratec<br />
The <strong>diffuser</strong>s shall be stored in their packing inside a dry and aerated<br />
building. DIN 7716 has to be considered.<br />
Before installation of OXYFLEX ® -MT <strong>300</strong> – <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong><br />
it has to be checked that the piping system is clean.<br />
Drilling chips, dirt etc. have to be removed, because those will cause<br />
serious damage to the <strong>diffuser</strong>s’ <strong>membrane</strong>s as those will be<br />
transported into the <strong>diffuser</strong>s as soon as blowers are set into operation.<br />
OXYFLEX ® -MT <strong>300</strong> – <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong> will be<br />
installed onto round pipes. The piping system has to be levelled to<br />
maximum ± 10 mm.<br />

OXYFLEX ® -MT <strong>300</strong> – <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong> are fixed to<br />
round pipes made of stainless steel or plastic, with a minimum diameter<br />
of 50 mm. On the upper side of those pipes, centered holes of diameter<br />
∅14 mm must be foreseen.<br />
The clamp will be installed in a way, that the hole of ∅14 mm and the<br />
opening of the clamp are centric.<br />
After the clamp is locked (by screws or wedges) the OXYFLEX ® -MT<br />
<strong>300</strong> <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong> can be screwed in.<br />
It is to be taken care of a horizontal seat of the <strong>diffuser</strong>s. The O-Ring<br />
sealing, made of EPDM must be clean and undamaged and has to sit<br />
between <strong>diffuser</strong> and tube.<br />

function- and leakage test has to be done.<br />
Therefore the tank shall be filled with clean water up to maximum 10 cm<br />
above <strong>diffuser</strong>s’ surface and the <strong>diffuser</strong>s shall be set in operation.<br />
(specific air flow: 6 Nm 3 /h per unit)<br />
Then function and installation can be checked and confirmed by report.<br />
After function and installation has been checked and confirmed<br />
OXYFLEX ® -MT <strong>300</strong> <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong>s have to be operated at<br />
least another 60 hours continuously, at a specific air flow of minimum 5<br />
Nm 3 /h per unit.<br />
Water level shall be as quick as possible raised up to minimum 100 cm<br />
above <strong>diffuser</strong>s’ surface.<br />

● Specific air flow may not exceed 10 Nm 3 /h per unit<br />
The judgement of the visual impression of bubble distribution shall not<br />
take place before the above specified first run of <strong>diffuser</strong>s.<br />
To do the visual check, the <strong>diffuser</strong>s shall operate at maximum capacity<br />
and shall be turned down to the minimum.<br />
• Test of evenly aeration (visual bubble check) must take place when<br />
the water level is at least 60-100 cm above <strong>diffuser</strong>s surface and a<br />
specific air flow of at least 5 Nm 3 /h per unit.<br />
• Test of evenly aeration (visual bubble check) at minimum air flow can<br />
only take place if the water temperature is above 10°C.<br />
Before the stated oxygen transfer efficiency figures of OXYFLEX ® -MT<br />
<strong>300</strong> <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong>s are proved with an the oxygen transfer<br />
efficiency test, the above mentioned steps have to be considered.<br />
The oxygen transfer efficiency test must be done a<strong>cc</strong>ordingly to<br />
a<strong>cc</strong>epted rules (e.g.: ATV-M 209) in clean or waste water.<br />
Guaranty figures have to be controlled exactly. It is necessary to have a<br />
precisely air-flow measurement system.<br />
After su<strong>cc</strong>essful oxygen transfer efficiency test the start up OXYFLEX ® -<br />
MT <strong>300</strong> <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong>s may follow immediately. If there is a<br />
postponement of the start up, it has to be taken care, that the water level<br />
stays at least 100 cm above <strong>diffuser</strong>s surface to prevent OXYFLEX ® -MT<br />
<strong>300</strong> <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong>s from sunlight and / or freezing.<br />

OXYFLEX ® -MT <strong>300</strong> <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong>s do not need a lot of<br />
maintenance. Usually it is enough to have one run of 10 to 15 minutes<br />
operation at maximum air-flow per day, where each single OXYFLEX ® -<br />
MT <strong>300</strong> <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong> shall operate at a specific air-flow of at<br />
least 6 Nm 3 /h per unit.<br />
To do so, it may help to shut down the system partially, by closing the<br />
corresponding valves.<br />
This also removes layers of sludge after longer time not having<br />
operated the system or longer terms of low specific air flow.<br />
At least once per year OXYFLEX ® -MT <strong>300</strong> <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong>s<br />
shall be checked visually. Here especially shall be checked whether<br />
there are layers of sludge or similar. If so, those layers shall be removed<br />
carefully.<br />
A separate maintenance-contract can be completed<br />

A Visual bubble check has to be done daily. The pressure loss of the<br />
system has to be controlled and reported monthly.<br />
Showy changes of the bubbles’ distribution and/or of the pressure-loss<br />
are prompt to report at SUPRATEC. Especially at installations with<br />
intermittent operation exists the risk, that activated sludge penetrates<br />
the entire piping, by damaged OXYFLEX ® -MT <strong>300</strong> <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong><br />
<strong>diffuser</strong>s. Hereby, all OXYFLEX ® -MT <strong>300</strong> <strong>membrane</strong> <strong>disc</strong> <strong>diffuser</strong>s are<br />
affected in function and lifetime.<br />
The maximum of SUPRATEC GmbH's warranty for Membrane <strong>disc</strong><br />
®<br />
<strong>diffuser</strong> OXYFLEX MT is 24 month.<br />
Longer warranty can be arranged only with conclusion of a maintenance<br />
contract between the operating and SUPRATEC GmbH.<br />
Damages and/or outer influences are specifically excluded from the<br />
warranty promise.<br />
The warranty ends if it known, that sewage is partially mainly full of<br />
industrial origin and/or the sewage has damaging influence on <strong>membrane</strong><br />
<strong>diffuser</strong>s and the SUPRATEC GmbH was not informed a<strong>cc</strong>ordingly. In such<br />
case, a confirmation of the warranty is to be ordered through the<br />
SUPRATEC GmbH.<br />
The correction of vaults in the warranty is to determine by approval. In<br />
case of warranty starts a 2 year long warranty for the changed <strong>diffuser</strong>s. Is<br />
the first warranty longer running, it apply till it ends.<br />
