If parents did notreceive a progress report in the post, or missed the interview sessions, feel free to contact the college.UNIFORM CHANGESFor many years Parents & Friends have successfully managed the DSC secondhand uniform & bookstore. In recent years we have been struggling because of a lack of volunteers, with a small group ofdedicated mums giving many hours of their time. As the College grows, this has become difficult tosustain. The P & F asked College Council/Uniform Committee to assist with a solution. The result of thiswork is that we will out-source the supply of uniform, and management of the Uniform Store, toBuxwear. The DSC Uniform Store will be the only outlet authorized to sell our uniform. The Uniform Store has been relocated to the middle of the roundabout in front of the auditorium. The College will benefit from a small commission some of which will be used to support families in need. The store will continue to sell secondhand items. We hope families will benefit from the excellent qualityof the new uniform and the service Buxwear will offer. There will be some changes to the uniform which will be introduced over the next 2 years. These changesinclude a logo on all uniform items, some updated designs and fabrics. You will notice a difference in thespray jacket, girls dress & winter skirt. There will also be a summer skirt option.Uniform Transition TimelineAll Year 7 2012 students and other newly enrolled students are expected to purchase the newapproved uniform. Please do not purchase uniform from outlets other than the DSC Uniform Shop. Pleasedo not purchase second hand uniform items. For current students:It would be expected that a reasonable change-over time for wash and wear uniform items would be 2years.

All of the above things need to be done or students will be withdrawn from theirVET course.Work ExperienceA reminder to all year 9 students that work experience dates for nextyear are June 21 st – 25 th (final week of term 2). Well done to all thosewho have organised their work experience already.Any students who haven’t organised a placement, or returned theiryellow forms to the Careers Office can expect to be approached byCareers staff to get the ball rolling.DSC has an arrangement with the Australian Tax Office (ATO) which enables students to apply for a tax file number through theschool. The advantage of applying in this way, (as opposed to getting a form from the Post Office), is that the form is muchsimpler to fill in. Because the school already has students’ enrolment details, the only additional identification required is the birthcertificate number and registration date.Once a form is completed, the school verifies each application, sends it off to the ATO and a number is then forwarded directly tothe student. It takes around five weeks to get a tax file number.Application forms can be collected from the Careers Centre.

It is a place where youngpeople can get help and support for a range of issues including physical and sexual health, mental health and drug andalcohol problems. The good news is that with support, these issues can often be dealt with early enough to prevent thembecoming even more significant and debilitating to the young person‘s life .However, asking for help is the first and most difficult step. That is why your children need you to make accessing services easier for them.Headspace offers free, confidential and professional services to young people with physical, mental and sexual healthissues.
