Wet Granulation, Conta<strong>in</strong>ment Technology<br />
& Dry Mix<strong>in</strong>g<br />
Dur<strong>in</strong>g the last ten years the <strong>Glatt</strong>-<br />
Group has considerably extended the<br />
realization of projects for the development<br />
and production of pharmaceutical<br />
solid dosage forms, particularly for wet<br />
granulation, conta<strong>in</strong>ment technology<br />
and the entire product handl<strong>in</strong>g, mostly<br />
by complete system <strong>in</strong>tegration.<br />
Wet Granulation<br />
Wet granulation is a major research and<br />
development field at <strong>Glatt</strong> Dresden, with<br />
special focus on improv<strong>in</strong>g handl<strong>in</strong>g of<br />
the vertical granulator series (VG) with<br />
rotor drive from below. Besides the<br />
standard conta<strong>in</strong>er lid fitted to a swivel<br />
arm, we now offer a comb<strong>in</strong>ed tilt/swivel<br />
version of the lid for all standard and explosion<br />
pressure shock resistant units.<br />
We furthermore offer a pneumatic lift<strong>in</strong>g<br />
device for the rotor, which essentially<br />
simplifies <strong>in</strong>spection and clean<strong>in</strong>g validation.<br />
Our table top lab model is now equipped<br />
with a multifunctional touch screen<br />
control system, based on an <strong>in</strong>dustrial<br />
PC, with the highlight option to extract<br />
process data on a USB stick. For the<br />
lab unit we now have <strong>in</strong>terchangeable<br />
product conta<strong>in</strong>ers, rang<strong>in</strong>g from 1-8<br />
Liters.<br />
Our younger series of top driven high<br />
shear granulators (TDG) is open for further<br />
improvement. The standard 2 bar<br />
explosion pressure shock resistant series<br />
has now been extended by a 12 bar<br />
“Pro” version for all sizes. All units are<br />
of course also available <strong>in</strong> “Super-<br />
Clean” construction. We will be display<strong>in</strong>g<br />
a “super-clean” TDG 600 Pro, fitted<br />
with NIR-spectrometer for on-l<strong>in</strong>e end<br />
po<strong>in</strong>t detection at the Achema.<br />
Conta<strong>in</strong>ment Technology<br />
In order to complement the high conta<strong>in</strong>ment<br />
split-flap series SKS and TKS,<br />
we have now also developed the sizes<br />
DN 150 and DN 250, simultaneously to<br />
improv<strong>in</strong>g the GMP standard for the<br />
media flow.<br />
For smaller productions, we have developed<br />
the new conta<strong>in</strong>ment transfer system<br />
“TKS-Easy”. This new split-flap<br />
system (patent applied) does not require<br />
any additional dock<strong>in</strong>g systems or<br />
controls, as such warrant<strong>in</strong>g significant<br />
sav<strong>in</strong>gs for the plant configuration.<br />
Dur<strong>in</strong>g design, special attention was<br />
given to light weight, easy handl<strong>in</strong>g and<br />
easy clean<strong>in</strong>g. For the handl<strong>in</strong>g of small<br />
quantities the above type, as well as<br />
SKS 100 and TKS 100 can now be<br />
equipped with versatile one-way bags<br />
of different sizes.<br />
Dry Mix<strong>in</strong>g<br />
All <strong>Glatt</strong> conta<strong>in</strong>er mixers can now be<br />
optionally equipped with NIR-spectrometers,<br />
<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g the table top lab<br />
mixers.<br />
