this is going to lead us to something else – on one of these coupled tori, youengage in the manipulation that I have explained for you here, namely, thatyou make a cut, you will obtain this something which is expressed asfollows, namely, that these tori being coupled, you have inside one of thesetori, another torus, a torus of the same kind as the one that I have drawnhere. What this designates, is that here, you can clearly see that whatregards the first torus has something that I called its inside, something in thetorus has been turned inside out, which is exactly in continuity with whatremains of the inside in this first torus. This torus is turned inside out in thesense that henceforth its inside is what goes to the outside, while in order todesignate the latter as being the one around which there is turned inside outthe one here, we see that the one that I designated here, has for its partremained unchanged, namely, that it has its first outside, its outside as it isposed in the loop, it has its outside always in the same place.8
