SECNAVINST 5210.11D, Department of theNavy File Maintenance procedures and <strong>Standard</strong> Subject Identification Codes, 20 October 1987was cancelled by separate administrative action.This Manual specifies filing and record maintenance procedures and provides <strong>Standard</strong> SubjectIdentification Codes (SSIC) for the Department of the Navy (DON). SSICs are the standardsystem of numbers and letter symbols used throughout the DON for categorizing Departmentalrecords by <strong>subject</strong>. SSICs serve as the taxonomy for all Departmental records.This Manual is effective immediately; it is mandatory and applicable to the Offices of theSecretary of the Navy, The Chief of <strong>Naval</strong> Operations (CNO), the Commandant of the MarineCorps (CMC), and all Navy and Marine Corps activities, installations, commands, ships, andstations.This manual may be accessed through the Department of the Navy, Navy Electronic DirectivesSystem website: http://neds.daps.dla.mil/.
