Like othersettlers, they wintered in Joe Batt's Arm and returned to the island during thehunting and fishing seasons. Most of the other settlers were from Fogo Island,Change Islands, Carmanville, Boyd's Cove and surrounding areas. Thissettlement pattern caused the population of the islands to rise and fall rapidlywith the changing of the seasons.L-R, John Dona hue, Alonzo Donahue, Leonard Donahue, William Donahue and pet dog "Brandy".This photo was taken in the spring of 1942.
