Ute throne of grace and endeavour to make amends forthe wrong we have committed.Add to your Love of the Brethren, Love.Just as the blossom, which has given up its sweetnessand vitality, is ready to be fertilised and become developedinto fruit through further visits of the insects bearing thepollen from other blossoms, so the New Creature who hasthrough trials lost much of the sweetness and vitality ofhis human life, and is laying down his life for the brethrenis ready to develop from love of the brethren into love inits all-comprehensive sense through the visitation of stillfurther trials, and through the sympathetic assistance cfhis brethren who are laying down their lives for him. Inthis way he learns to sympathise not only with his brethrenin Christ Jesus, but also with the world of mankind, andfinally with his enemies.(1) While endeavouring to love righteousness and obeyGod (duty-love), he discovers how very frail he is, andhow much he desires others to make allowance for hisfailings. (2) This teaches him to make allowance for thefrailties of the brethren, and enables him to learn how tolove them (brotherly-love). He finds how much good hecan do himself and them by bearing patiently with themand treating them kindly, lovingly, even though to do sohe requires to sacrifice what he might justly call his rights.(3) In this way, through these further trials and throughthe help which he himself receives from the brethren whoare laying down their lives for him, he becomes, so tospeak, fertilised, and develops the fruit of love (all-comprehensivelove). He finds that he is now able to sympathisewith both friends and enemies, to make largeallowances for their many kilings, and to do them goodas he has opportunity, for love covers the multitude ofgins." In this way he is getting himself ready to reignwith Cbht and bless the world.
