King Abimelech taking Sarah into hishouse, believing her to be Abraham's sister, reminds usof the similar incident recorded in the 12th chapter in connectionwith Pharoah <strong>and</strong> his princes. In the formercase Pharoah <strong>and</strong> his princes represented Satan <strong>and</strong> hisevil angels; but in this case, Abimelech <strong>and</strong> his house representNebuchadnezzar <strong>and</strong> the Gentiles generally, whoin 606 B.c., after the overthrow of God's typical earthlykihgdom, sought to govern the world, <strong>and</strong> thus bringblessing tipon all the families of the earth. In otherwords, they sought to do all that God's original oath-boundcovenant, as typified by Sarah, is destined to do. But asAbraham did not devulge to Abirnelecll that his sisterSarah was also his wife, so God in His wisdom hid the fulltruth that he alone is bound to His original Covenant, <strong>and</strong>that He alone has the right <strong>and</strong> power to bring into ems-30'
