We were very glad indeed to have him there, for weknew that he could tell us more about that Witness than any one living. <strong>The</strong> Arab guides knowabsolutely nothing of the teachings of the pyramid, <strong>and</strong> as Brother <strong>Edgar</strong> knows every foot of theinside <strong>and</strong> also had with him his chief helper, Judah, w e did not require the services of any of theguides. This was quite a surprise to these Arabs, however, <strong>and</strong> they thought it very strange that wewould go inside without them.At a distance the greatpyramid does not showoff what a mightystructure it is, but as onegets alongside, he issoon convinced that it isthe greatest building inthe world.<strong>The</strong> entrance is on thenorth side <strong>and</strong> about fiftyfeet up the sloping side.To reach this we found itnecessary to climb overabout fifty feet ofrubbish. With no railing,fire escapes, or anythingelse to support one, eventhis height made some feel a little queer, <strong>and</strong> Brother Pyles remarked, "I would give a dollar if Ihad not started." However, helping h<strong>and</strong>s were extended to him, <strong>and</strong> soon we were in front of theentrance. We stood around this for some time, Bro. <strong>Edgar</strong> in the meantime pointing out <strong>and</strong>explaining various things of interest. In his first volume on the Great Pyramid Passages he shows anumber of excellent illustrations of just how this entrance looked.We then went into theDescending Passage, passedunder the Granite Plug,which stops up the lower endof the First AscendingPassage. We kept on downuntil we came to theSubterranean Chamber orPit. On the way, however,we, of course, passed thelower end of the Well. ThisSubterranean Chamber isabout 250 feet from theentrance, <strong>and</strong> the wholepassage to it is very slippery,
