I thought this dying expression of trust 1vas all thatrequired to deliver my brother from an eternity of woe.Before long, however, perplexing questions presentedthemselves to my mind. Had I the right to hope thatJames mas now in Heaven with all those faithful followersof the Lord, who had devoted their lives to His service<strong>and</strong> suffered, maybe, even martyrdom for His sake ? Wasmy brother's spirit undergoing a purifying process whichmould ultimately make him a copy of Christ ? What ofthose who have no one to pray for them-would theyrish on that account ? For these <strong>and</strong> similar difficulties,I? resbyterianism has no solution. Our prayers for morelight, however, were answered by the Lord in due lime,<strong>and</strong> in His own way.As me read "<strong>The</strong> Divine Plan of the Ages," proving itsevery statement in the Scriptures, we found our questions<strong>and</strong> dificulties thoroughly cleared up. Our heavenlyFather's love shone out most brilliantly from His ownHoly Word. We became convinced that this book wasndeed a hclp to the underst<strong>and</strong>ing of the Bible, <strong>and</strong> weoften spoke to the doctor of the marvellous unfol(1ingwhich we had received through its aid, <strong>and</strong> 1p.c constantlysougllt to arouse his interest in it. For fully a year.however, thare was little response. He <strong>and</strong> the othermembers of the family feared that their father <strong>and</strong> twosisters were becoming fanatical, <strong>and</strong> they dislik~d thepublicity caused by the "propag<strong>and</strong>ist work <strong>and</strong>separation from the Unitccl Presbytcrinn Church. Me\-crtheless,our brother acknowledged later that our enthusiasm<strong>and</strong> zeal had influenced him favourably .Onr home was opened freely in the service of the Truth,<strong>and</strong> it was our joy <strong>and</strong> privilege to entertain many ofthe Lord's children <strong>and</strong> messengers. <strong>John</strong>, who was afrequent visitor. was brought into contact with many ofthese friends, including Brother Hemery <strong>and</strong> Sister SarahFeme, whom we then, with loving familiarity, began ta12
