Can you commit to a regular timeperiod, to offer support and have a willingness to listen? For this role we willrequire two people who can provide character references and fro you to beprepared to undergo a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check.Community Emergency CoordinatorThe Community Emergency Coordinator would be able to undertake thecompletion and maintenance of the Community Plan.You would need to provide a vital link between your Community and otherorganisations planning for and responding to an Emergency. Whilst providinga vital link to the Emergency Planning Team at <strong>South</strong> <strong>Norfolk</strong> <strong>Council</strong>.Volunteer GardenerWe are currently looking for volunteer gardeners within the District of <strong>South</strong><strong>Norfolk</strong>. This role is to support local residents who are unable to take care oftheir own gardens. Tasks would include light pruning, weeding, planting andgrass cutting.For this role we will require two people who can provide character referencesand be prepared to undergo a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check.Tree WardensTree Wardens are involved with activities like gathering information abouttrees, liaising with local people about tree preservation & conservation,and practical projects. An example of a practical project is the planting wecarry out every year in <strong>South</strong> <strong>Norfolk</strong> during National Tree Week, when wegive Tree wardens plants they have requested to plant in their parishes.We are currenlty looking for Tree Wardens in the following Parishes;Alpington, Aslacton, Bergh Apton, Bixley, Carleton St. Peter, Costessey,Earsham, Ellingham, Framingham Earl, Framingham Pigot, Great Melton,Hellington, Holverston, Howe, Keswick, Kirby Cane, Kirstead, Morley,Raveningham, Shelfanger, Winfarthing, Yelverton.


Speed Awareness Volunteer (SAM) -Are you concerned about speeding in your neighbourhood? We are lookingfor volunteers to operate our Speed Awareness Machines (SAM).Training will be given to volunteers on how to operate the SAMVolunteer Rangers –You can join us and become one of our Volunteer Rangers who work in avariety of locations and beauty spots. You will have a chance to try your handat a number of tasks from enhancing or restoring habitats, maintaininginfrastructure and building small structures (bridges, kissing gate).No experience required as training will be instructed by the CountrysideRanger, just bring suitable clothing and steel toe capped boots.Community Car Schemes Co-ordinators & DriversCo-ordinators are responsible for managing the annual discretionary fundingfrom SNC and are reimbursed for out of pocket expenses.Co-ordinators take the initial transport enquiry and arrange bookings; we areseeking to support new schemes in areas with no coverage. Co-ordinators areresponsible for checking driver and vehicle documentation.Drivers are required to use their own vehicle but need to seek permissionfrom their vehicle insurance provider. Journeys are reimbursed at 45p per milewith some schemes paying an additional 5p per mile per passenger, theserates are non taxable.Most commonly journeys are for essential medical purposes, drivers arerequired to update their co-ordinator with their availability, so hours are flexiblewith notice given.Community Mini Bus DriversDial a ride mini bus sizes and regulations vary, so charitable communitytransport operators provide full support and training. Interested drivers need tobe able to commit to regular patterns of work so bookings can be taken inadvance by call centres, especially for scheduled runs to key service centres.Less commitment is required for day trips and weekend hire as these arebooked in advance dependant on availability.Volunteer Passenger AssistantsProvide assistance to passengers and drivers and to ensure clients are safely transferred between their homes and the mini bus. Also required to secure wheelchairs and baggage before a journey begins, and keeping the vehicle tidy between journeys. Community Transport PromoterTo work with <strong>Council</strong>’s Locality Officer to formulate an approach after full training. Focus on promoting community transport to community groups that meet within <strong>South</strong> <strong>Norfolk</strong> or that support residents of <strong>South</strong> <strong>Norfolk</strong>.


Record contact with groups/businesses/events attended and signpostinterested volunteers to existing community transport schemes or relevantorganisations for support with setting up new CT schemes.Mileage reimbursed at 45p per mileNeighbourhood Board Community RepresentativeWork closely with their communities to develop a shared understanding of localissues, concerns and priorities;Develop strong links with and between communities in the neighbourhood;Ensure good communication channels are in place to allow communities to havemeaningful, constructive dialogue with the Board;Act as a community conduit to alert relevant service providers of the local needsand priorities, and to improve service delivery; andEncourage and facilitate greater involvement of local people in their area, helpingto increase democracy and community engagement.Restorative ApproachAre you interested in helping to resolve community conflict in your local area?Community Restorative Approach is an effective way to bring those withdiffering opinions together, to listen to each other, voice their opinion, come toa compromise, and restore the community. This method of CommunityResolution has been effective in a wide range of community conflicts - forexample - Anti-Social Behaviour, local car parking problems, noise issues andneighbour disputes.Restorative Approach Volunteers would facilitate Restorative Conferences (astructured meeting of residents) who are each given the time to voice theirconcerns, are listened to, and together "restore" (put right) the issue.Full training and ongoing support will be given. A CRB check will be requiredfor this role.Environmental VolunteersWe are looking for community volunteers to help at our regular WEEE (Wasteelectrical and electronic equipment) reuse and recycling events, these eventsare designed to give local communities a chance to easily/ethically dispose ofunwanted items and enable people to remove working items for free. You willbe recording the number and type of items which are either reused or recycledat the events. Volunteers will not be required to lift or move items.Volunteers can also enjoy getting involved with resident’s queries and fieldingsome questions about their local recycling facilities
