Will i travel alone or with a group?
This varies from departure to departure. Whenever
possible, you will travel with a group, but
depending on the school start date and your
destination, you may also travel on your own.
Should this be the case, you will be informed
prior to your departure, and our representatives
will address any concerns that you may have.
When is the departure?
The departure date is planned in accordance
with the school start date and thus depends on
the school you are placed in. As a general rule
of thumb, fall departures take place from the
end of July to the beginning of September, and
spring departures occur at the end of January
or the beginning of February.
How much luggage can i take with me?
The number of suitcases and their maximum
weight vary from one airline to the next. STS
will inform you of the applicable regulations
closer to your departure date. You may also
verify this information directly with the airline.
When do i find out my departure date?
This depends on when your placement is finalised.
Your flight will be booked once your
school and host family have been confirmed.
can i go even if i am allergic/diabetic?
It is very important that you notify STS about
your health condition and special needs. The
faQ
STS organisation will do its best to find a suitable
host family.
Do i have to have good grades to be
accepted?
In order to be accepted to the program the student
has to have an average grade of C in all
subjects. In certain cases, a subject with a lower
grade may be approved. The student cannot
have a lower than average grade in a core subject.
Do i need to have pre-knowledge in
the language of the program country?
English is sufficient for all programs, even for
the non-English speaking countries. For some
countries, knowledge of the native language is
required.
am i required to get all vaccinations
for my destination?
Yes, you are. Immunisations are required by
the schools and if your immunisation record is
not up to date in your destination country, the
school may not accept you. Alternatively, you
may be required to obtain missing vaccinations
upon arrival which may cost more than in your
home country.
Do i need a visa and, if so,
how do i apply for it?
Depending on the country and the duration of
your exchange, you may require a visa. Visas
