OperationFigure 15 Sonar display with Variable rangemarker, Compass card and Vertical ring enabled.The VRM (Variable Range Marker) consists of an adjustable rangering with range readout. It can be used for any type of distancemarking relative to the vessel. To adjust the marker, locate thecursor on the marker ring, press Select and move the cursor withthe Select button depressed. When the button is released, thevariable range marker radius will be moved to the new cursorposition.The Compass Card is shown as short yellow lines for every 10thdegree along the outermost circle of the sonar view. A trianglesymbol indicates each 45th degree. It has labels indicating North,East, South and West. It is updated when the heading of own shiphas changed more than 1 degree, if the display mode is Bow up.The Vertical Ring shows the selected range of the vertical slice asa full circle in the horizontal presentation. This is an indication ofwhich distance a target should be presented in the vertical view.The Vertical Ring will only be visible in those modes that supporta vertical slice.
