R.R.: So it‟s a very physical process.<br />

H.S.-B.: It‟s a very physical process and a very spiritual process at the same time. It‟s<br />

both.<br />

R.R.: So, do you have grandchildren?<br />

H.S.-B.: No, not yet. I‟m dying to have them (laughs…)<br />

R.R.: So, about the Brecht poem. Why did you include the Brecht poem at the beginning<br />

<strong>of</strong> the film? How did you decide to include it? How did that come about?<br />

H.S.-B.: It‟s a poem that impressed me very much when I was young because it was<br />

written in 1933, which was the moment when the Nazis came to power and in an<br />

incredibly prophetic way it spoke about what was about to happen. And I wanted to<br />

confront this Brecht vision <strong>of</strong> the mother with my own vision <strong>of</strong> my mother.<br />

R.R.: So, my next question is related to that last question. Brecht used scene titles at<br />

the beginning <strong>of</strong> his plays to introduce the historical and political setting <strong>of</strong> the action,<br />

which is about to happen. Does the poem act as a scene title for the film because it tells<br />
