MAKING CAR SHARING AND CAR CLUBS WORKCASE STUDY SUMMARIES16.16 The a2b matching system is promoted through the intranet, within which there is a prominentnews article that frequently promotes it’s use. Pre launch messages were posted on theintranet, for example “a2b to be launched in 5 days” whilst regular articles informingemployees of the scheme are regularly posted. Menu holders and table tops are alsoutilised to raise awareness of the scheme by emphasising three main messages that areassociated with journey sharing:Saving people moneyReducing their impact on the environmentLess time spent on travelling to work16.17 Staff who log their travel details are entered into a monthly prize draw. Journey details canbe entered at any time. Each time an employee logs their journey share details they areentered into the prize draw. Therefore the higher the number of times that staff log theirjourney details, the higher the chance of winning the prize. The prize on offer is a £15 HMVvoucher.Financial Performance / Targets16.18 Orange have no formalised targets for their journey sharing scheme.Research and Development16.19 The a2b journey sharing scheme is still fairly new however development of the scheme isongoing. Orange is looking to provide preferential parking spaces for car sharers and islooking to include promotional literature in recruitment packages.16.20 The limited success of the scheme indicates that there is a need to engage other staff injourney sharing.Support/Consultation16.21 The consultant who worked to implement the scheme (not employed in this post anymore)consulted with peers from other companies and the Local Authority.Final V1.1, Dec. 2004 - 92 -
