Suggested Black Powder LoadsFor T/C 12 GaugeMuzzleloading ShotgunsThe following charts show recommended black powder charges for <strong>Thompson</strong>/<strong>Center</strong>’s12 Ga. muzzleloading shotguns. Make certain that you use theappropriate wad corresponding to your shotguns choke (or lack of choke).T/C’s 1/2" fiber cushion wads and T/C’s Natural Wads can be used in nonchoked(cyl. bore) barrels; T/C’s Natural Wads should be used in any T/Cchoked barrel(with an internal choke tube). The 1/2" fiber cushion wadSHOULD NOT BE USED IN CHOKED BARRELS. Wads must be usedin all loads and positioned as illustrated on page 45. Mark your ramrod as explainedin the text and always check to make certain that the wads and shotcolumn are firmly seated against the powder charge as shown on page 47.Black Powder or an approved Black Powder substitute are the only typesof powder that can be safely used in muzzleloading firearms.Finer granulations of Black Powder (FFFG or FFFFG) cannot be usedas they will increase pressure and can create a potentially dangerouscondition. Never attempt to use smokeless powders of any type or inany quantity. Some smokeless powders are “black” in color, makingproper identification extremely important. Smokeless powders producepressures which are unsafe in a muzzleloading firearm.
