Serve ontoastt.Frying.— Heat butter boiling hot in frying-pan. Fryfive minutes. Serve on hot dish, pouring over them thesauce made by thickening the butter with a little flour.Hunter's Toast.— Carry a vial of olive oil, or a smallcan of butter, <strong>and</strong> some pepper <strong>and</strong> salt mixed. Make fireof dry twigs. Split a green stick (sassafras, birch, oispicewood, is best) at one end; put mushroom in the cleft,broil, oil or butter, <strong>and</strong> eat from stick.Camp Bake.— Cover bottom of tin plate with the caps,spore surface up. Sprinkle with salt <strong>and</strong> pepper. Placea bit of butter on each- Put another tin plate on top. Seton coals, or on a heated stone, fifteen minutes. Boilabout five minutes. Put some bread crumbs ortoast in a dish, <strong>and</strong> pour tomatoes over them. Buttercan be omitted. Some do not like sugar intomatoes.Canned Corn.— Same as tomatoes ; but omitsugar <strong>and</strong> bread. Add a cup of milk, if you haveit.Miscellaneous Vegetables.— Since campers veryseldom have any other fresh vegetables than potatoes<strong>and</strong> onions, I will not take up space withspecial recipes for others.
