False color band combinations and vegetation indices are wellknownmethods for using multispectral data to extract information from theearth’s surface. The PANCROMA TM LSA uses all of the Landsat spectral bandsfor extracting such information. The LSA is used in conjunction with databasessuch as the USGS Digital Spectral Library (http://pubs.usgs.gov/of/2003/ofr-03-395/datatable.html). A Digital Spectrum (DS) is a plot of reflectance versuswavelength. Reflectance values typically vary between zero (completeabsorption) and unity (complete reflectance).
